Less than 5% of intravenously-injected nanoparticles (NPs) reach destined sites in the body due to opsonization and immune-based clearance in vascular circulation. By hitchhiking in situ onto specific blood components post-injection, NPs can selectively target tissue sites for unprecedentedly high drug delivery rates. Choline carboxylate ionic liquids (ILs) are biocompatible liquid salts <100℃ composed of bulky asymmetric cations and anions. This class of ILs has been previously shown to significantly extend circulation time and redirect biodistribution in BALB/c mice post-IV injection via hitchhiking on red blood cell (RBC) membranes. Herein, we synthesized & screened 60 choline carboxylic acid-based ILs to coat PLGA NPs and present the impact of structurally engineering the coordinated anion identity to selectively interface and hitchhike lymphocytes, monocytes, granulocytes, platelets, and RBCs in whole mouse blood for in situ targeted drug delivery. Furthermore, we find this nanoparticle platform to be biocompatible (non-cytotoxic), translate to human whole blood by resisting serum uptake and maintaining modest hitchhiking, and also significantly extend circulation retention over 24 hours in BALB/c healthy adult mice after IV injection. Because of their altered circulation profiles, we additionally observe dramatically different organ accumulation profiles compared to bare PLGA NPs. This study establishes an initial breakthrough platform for a modular and transformative targeting technology to hitchhike onto blood components with high efficacy and safety in the bloodstream post-IV administration.
Composites and nanocomposites as commercially used engineering materials with continuous development, are important for rising market and industry needs. Signicant role is played by polymers, whose consumption increases every year, thanks to low cost of production, economical processing and broad scope of material composition possibilities, including nanomaterials and basing on them nanocomposites. Nanocomposites, using power of nanotechnology, may improve physical, chemical and mechanical properties, comparing to composites. Investigation of structure and properties of such materials is necessary to obtain knowledge about phenomena at micro and nanoscale and gives opportunity to design and control structure, because the properties of any material depend on its matter. Polymer matrix nanocomposites are interesting and very promising class of polymer composites. Investigation of structure development due to dierent heat treatment and under dierent processing condition of injection molded specimens of polypropylene and montmorillonite composition has been performed. Dispersion of nanoreinforcement, in the shape of 2:1 layer silicates, was observed under transmission and scanning electron microscope. Application of advanced technology of multiplication of oriented layer mostly reinforcing and orienting micro and nanoparticles along polymeric specimen, allowed to obtain several layers and signicantly reinforced material. Light microscope has been used for observation layered zone, visible just in polarization mode.
Przedmiotem niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja zbioru pamiętników, relacji i wspomnień wydanych w latach 2006–2015 w ramach serii publikacji ukazujących powojenne dzieje Dolnego Śląska, a szczególnie Ziemi Głogowskiej. Punktem wyjścia do podjętej charakterystyki życia ludzi, którzy zasiedlili Ziemie Odzyskane były wydarzenia 1945 r. Na początku w okresie zasiedlania Ziem Odzyskanych dochodziło do separatyzmu, wynikającego z różnic pochodzenia regionalnego osadników (m.in. różne tradycje i wizje funkcjonowania zbiorowości). Wspomnienia powojenne dają wieloaspektowy obraz powojennej rzeczywistości, wnoszą więc ważną cząstkę do dorobku powojennej polskiej historiografii Ziemi Głogowskiej, a szerzej Ziem Zachodnich.
