ABSTRACT:The production of the American lettuce type in greenhouse conditions using irrigation and fertilization, may contribute for the yield increase and expansion of the culture in the region of Lavras -MG, Brazil. In a greenhouse model chapel was carried out an experiment with the objective of evaluating the effects of irrigation frequencies and potassium doses on the yield of the American lettuce and the water use efficiency. The experiment was composed by the following treatments of irrigation frequency: (P1) -daily irrigation; (P2) -every other day irrigation; (P3)three in three days irrigation, and (P4) -four in four days irrigation. In the split plots four doses of potassium chloride (60% of K 2 O) were applied, by fertigation: (D1) -100 kg KCl ha -1 ; (D2) -150 kg KCl ha -1 ; (D3) -200 kg KCl ha -1 , and (D4) -250 kg KCl ha -1 . The variables evaluated were lettuce productivity in tons for hectare and water efficiency use, that is, the productivity for mm of water applied. It was possible to conclude that the highest productivity (44,06 t ha -1 ) was obtained with the dose of the 119,36 kg of K 2 O ha -1 ; the irrigation management for the American lettuce culture, in greenhouse conditions of Lavras can be carried out in irrigation interval of four days. The treatments with higher irrigation intervals presented greater water use efficiency.
YELOW PASSION FRUIT DEVELOPMENT AND YIELD IRRIGATED UNDER DIFFERENT LEVELS OF IRRIGATION IN GREENHOUSE AND NATURAL CONDICTIONSABSTRACT: Irrigation is a practice that can offer the possibility of a product with a better quality, and increase the productivity. The cultivation of passion fruit in greenhouse is not a common activity so it is necessary to research this condition, especially irrigation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different soil water tensions on the culture behavior in greenhouses and natural condition in the region of Lavras -Minas Gerais -Brazil. The experiment was conducted at the experimental area of the UFLA-Engineering Department in a randomized block design with four replications. Four soil water tensions were previously established, which consisted of treatments: 15, 30, 45 and 60 kPa, in a 0.20 m deep. It was concluded by the results obtained that: irrigation of passion fruit, under tensions of up to 60 kPa, both in greenhouse at in natural conditions of cultivation, did not affect the total, commercial and noncommercial productions; cultivation in greenhouses promoted a faster growth of the plants (height and stem diameter), and also anticipated the harvest when compared to the natural conditions; the irrigation can be performed for water tension of 60 kPa in soil, in greenhouses and natural conditions without compromising the crop productivity; the tension of water in the soil affects plant growth, however, did not affect...
Brachiaria brizantha cultivars grown under different water availability in Entisol A B S T R A C TThe objective was to establish the tolerance to drought and flooding in the production of leaves and stems of three B. brizantha cultivars in Fluvisol. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, where the experimental units were plastic pots with capacity of 4.2 dm³. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 3 x 3 with three cultivars of Brachiaria brizantha (Marandu, Piatã and Xaraés) and three water availability, and, waterlogged soil (0 kPa), field capacity (10 kPa, control) and water deficit (50 kPa) with 5 repetitions. The soil used was Entisol. Three cuttings were performed which were evaluated for dry mass of leaves, dry mass of stems and leaf/stem ratio. Data were subjected to analysis of variance by F test, and when significant Tukey test at 0.05 probability was used. The cultivars of Brachiaria brizantha (Marandu, Piata and Xaraés) were susceptible to drought, being the Marandu the only resistant to flooding, with significant development in the three cuttings.
