ABSTRACTThe different concentrations of salt in the irrigation water on the initial development of sugar cane, cultivar SP80-1842, grown in soils with different textural levels were evaluated. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse of the Agricultural Engineering Department of the Federal University of Lavras, in Lavras, MG. The purpose of the protected environment cultivation was to make the treatments of salt levels in the irrigation water possible, without the interference of rainfalls. The treatments consisted of four levels of salinity of the irrigation water (electric conductivity of (0.10; 2.0; 5.0 and 8.0 dS m -1 ), and three textural classes of soil e (sandy, medium and clayey), amounting to twelve treatments and characterizing a completely randomized design (CRD), in a 4X3 factorial scheme, with eight replicates. At the biggining and after the experimentation, soils samples were collected in order to obtaining electric conductivity of the saturated extract, picturing the effect of salinity of the irrigation water on the sorts of soils. On 38 days after planting of the buds, the root and shoot dry matter was obtained and over the experimentation were counted daily the number of buds which sprouted in each pot. Results showed that sugar cane, cultivar SP80-1842, is se...
YELOW PASSION FRUIT DEVELOPMENT AND YIELD IRRIGATED UNDER DIFFERENT LEVELS OF IRRIGATION IN GREENHOUSE AND NATURAL CONDICTIONSABSTRACT: Irrigation is a practice that can offer the possibility of a product with a better quality, and increase the productivity. The cultivation of passion fruit in greenhouse is not a common activity so it is necessary to research this condition, especially irrigation. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different soil water tensions on the culture behavior in greenhouses and natural condition in the region of Lavras -Minas Gerais -Brazil. The experiment was conducted at the experimental area of the UFLA-Engineering Department in a randomized block design with four replications. Four soil water tensions were previously established, which consisted of treatments: 15, 30, 45 and 60 kPa, in a 0.20 m deep. It was concluded by the results obtained that: irrigation of passion fruit, under tensions of up to 60 kPa, both in greenhouse at in natural conditions of cultivation, did not affect the total, commercial and noncommercial productions; cultivation in greenhouses promoted a faster growth of the plants (height and stem diameter), and also anticipated the harvest when compared to the natural conditions; the irrigation can be performed for water tension of 60 kPa in soil, in greenhouses and natural conditions without compromising the crop productivity; the tension of water in the soil affects plant growth, however, did not affect...
