Os exames que usam radiação ionizante são uma ferramenta essencial para o diagnóstico e terapia de diversas doenças. A tomografia computadorizada (TC) é uma modalidade de imagem que implica no uso de altas doses de radiação. Observando o rápido aumento na frequência de exames de TC em pacientes pediátricos, a comunidade científica vem buscando maneiras de reduzir os valores de dose, sem comprometer a qualidade da imagem e o diagnóstico clínico. Neste estudo, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica procurando condensar as informações sobre os parâmetros de aquisição de imagens de TC e sua otimização para pacientes pediátricos. Através do método das quatro leituras de Gil, foram inicialmente selecionados 30 artigos com o objetivo de identificar os seguintes parâmetros: tensão de pico, corrente de tubo (mA), tempo de aquisição, colimação e espessura de corte, pitch, métodos de reconstrução e dose. Foi encontrada pouca literatura sobre a escolha dos parâmetros de aquisição de TC para pacientes pediátricos, sendo encontrados, principalmente, estudos sobre a redução de dose com o uso de controle automático de exposição. O treinamento da equipe envolvida nos procedimentos, garantindo a qualidade do diagnóstico de acordo com a faixa etária e com as variações anatômicas do paciente, é de fundamental importância.
Conhecer as doses ocupacionais em procedimentos urológicos com uso de fluoroscopia é importante para otimizar os mecanismos de radioproteção da equipe. Para estimar a exposição ocupacional da equipe cirúrgica nestes procedimentos, foi coletado um conjunto de medidas de taxa de dose reproduzindo as condições de realização de procedimentos de urologia com uso de arco cirúrgico. Foram simulados pacientes de espessuras de 20 e 28 cm utilizando placas de acrílico. As taxas de dose foram medidas com dosímetros RaySafe i2 Unfors distribuídos em uma malha de 50 x 50 cm abrangendo uma área de 20,25 m². As medidas com os dosímetros foram feitas a três alturas diferentes do chão: 95 cm, 125 cm e 165 cm correspondendo, respectivamente, às regiões gonadal, torácica e do cristalino de um trabalhador adulto típico. Os resultados obtidos servem para validação de simulações por Monte Carlo, também permitem conhecer o nível de exposição desses profissionais e estimar as doses anuais que podem ser atingidas, bem como estruturar dados para treinamentos em proteção radiológica voltados para a equipe cirúrgica.
