The article deals with the use of computer simulation approach in order to streamline production logistics within a specific production company. The computer simulation from its very beginnings has undergone a long and significant evolution. The current possibilities of computer simulation approach enable to mimic the real processes of production logistic activities as well as of the actual production. This article is focused on the question, how to effectively utilise the available tools of computer simulation approach to analyse and streamline a particular simulation system. Therefore also the presented solution is the actual description of a practical application of a computer simulation approach used for the needs of one specific production company within one specific industry area. The intention is to showcase the practical aspects of simulation modelling, in this case utilising the EXTENDSIM simulation system. The simulation approach will be used for the needs of a production company, that produces car components and accessories made of wood for the automotive industry.
The principal objective of the research was to determine the influence exerted by the implementation of standard quality management systems on the improvement of selected logistics processes in small and medium-sized enterprises, which operate in the textile industry. Empirical research was carried out by the authors in the year 2017 on a group of small and medium-sized enterprises that operate in the textile industry in Poland and Slovakia. The research involved 33 organizations (20 Polish, and 13 Slovak ones). The research process and the analysis of the acquired results made it possible to address the research questions posed and to state, among others, that standardized quality management systems exert a relatively large influence on perfecting selected subsystems and logistic processes in the researched organizations.
The sharp increase in the amounts and the variety of available products on the market have also caused an increase in the amounts of different packaging and other elements that come with any given product. The large amounts of communal waste stem from different anthropomorphic activities, and different aspects of human consumption cause an increased demand for effective waste disposal by incineration, separation, recycling, or organic processing. The object of modelling and simulation is the material flow of municipal waste during its processing. The disposed waste and generated emissions have a significant impact on the environment. Therefore, the processes for monitoring and optimizing the waste treatment are of crucial importance to minimize the amounts of disposed waste and emissions as well as their
This article describes a methodical framework that combines two specific methods of Lean management, namely the ABC method and the MRP planning method. The article further argues that combining the ABC inventory method with subsequent MRP planning is beneficial if the combination is implemented in practice. To demonstrate the benefits, the framework is tested using a case study company. The presented case-study problem is to reduce the number of changeover downtimes in the environment of an engineering production company. The researched company deals with the problem of setting up production lines in a way to minimize the number of downtimes within one work shift. Within the solution, four possible variants of the production plan are presented. By combining the ABC and MRP methods, up to four changeovers can be saved, which in financial terms represents a saving of about EUR 450,000 per year.
The aim of this article is to provide analysis and description of deposit and recycling system of disposable beverage packaging, which started in the Slovak Republic in 2022. The article provides the review of relevant literature with a focus on circular economy and Deposit Refund System (DRS), where analysis of refund systems was performed for this work. The proposed model involving reverse logistics describes how such deposit and collection system can work in practice, highlighting potential disadvantages, mainly the high investment costs. Therefore, the article also includes a financial analysis exploring potential cost of establishing said deposit and collection system. The number of necessary collection point for Slovakia has been determined and the total investment costs for the vending machines installations and service in Slovakia has been calculated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
