To conduct, in an effective way, the non-destructive testing (NDT) of products—in particular, the fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI)—remains a challenge. Therefore, the aim of this work is to propose the method of support in the choice of a fluorescent penetrant to be used in FPI research. In the results of the usage of the proposed procedure, it is demonstrated that it is possible to reduce the negative impacts on the environment by FPI processes (through sustainability), while including other criteria, i.e., financial, security, productive (Industry 4.0), and societal (Society 5.0) criteria. The essence of the proposed method is to integrate two methods of decision support. These were the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method and the cost–quality analysis (AKJ). Using the AHP method, the quality level of fluorescent penetrant (to the satisfaction of the customer)—which included the sustainability criteria—are calculated. These criteria include natural environment, reactivity, combustibility, level of sensitivity, and type of washing (emulsification). Then, with the help of the AKJ, the most favorable penetrant—in terms of quality and cost—is calculated and, thus, indicated. This choice must include the concept of sustainable development. Therefore, this method can be used to choose fluorescent penetrants in manufacturing and service enterprises which carry out FPI.

This paper summarizes the arguments within the scientific discussion on the issue of reducing municipal waste in municipalities in Slovakia. The aim of the paper is to examine the environmental and economic impacts of waste management in municipalities in Slovakia and to determine the impact of the introduction of a coupon system in the field of municipal waste sorting in municipalities. Methods of research were focused on using statistical indicators for the valuation of municipal waste, cluster analysis, regression analysis, and comparison analysis. The object of research were chosen 8 municipalities in Slovakia that implemented coupon system of waste sorting. The research empirically confirms and theoretically proves that the development trend of municipal and separated waste has a linear progressive course that means increasing of municipal waste and separated waste. The indicator RSquare indicates that the number of inhabitants affects the generation of municipal waste at 67,03%. Defined three clusters can be a tool for the classification of municipalities in the sorting of municipal waste after the implementation of a coupon system. The results of the research can be useful for legislative changes in Waste Law in Slovakia and opportunities for law changes in municipalities in the EU.

Modelling as a Tool for the Planning of the Transport System Performance in the Conditions of a Raw Material Mining

This article is devoted to modelling of the extracted raw material removal from a mining area to the entry point for the next technological process. Two approaches were chosen for the process modelling. The first approach is regarded to traffic modelling by using available mathematical equations, based on capacity conversion and calculation of loading equipment efficiency. The second approach of modelling is computer simulation within the simulation system ExtendSim8. The modelling of the transport system and the determination of its efficiency were performed at the same conditions. The examined transport system was consisted of two lorries and one loader. The article presents the results of calculations and the results of simulation experiments, which also verified the results obtained by calculations. Calculations of the transport system performance and simulation experiments were performed for two time periods, for a time of 1 h and 6 h during a shift from three different loading places, which were 500, 1100 and 1450 m away from a place of unloading. The results obtained by both approaches are comparable. The main contribution, novelty, of this article is the modelling of the process in a quarry operation (loading and removal of mineral resources) not only on the basis of available mathematical formulas but also the application of simulation in the simulation tool EXTENDSim8, performing simulation experiments for specified conditions and their comparison with calculated values. Simulation is a suitable tool for determining and subsequently planning of the performance of both existing and projected transport systems.
