A anemia falciforme é uma doença prevalente no Brasil, e é caracterizada por uma mutação genética que provoca uma deformidade nas hemácias do portador, causando diversos problemas. Uma boa parte desses pacientes necessitam de transfusões frequentes para tratamento de complicações da doença, porém, ao longo do tempo podem surgir complicações resultantes dessas transfusões, o que torna o uso dessa terapia bastante criteriosa. Mas por que o paciente falciforme pode apresentar problemas com a terapia transfusional? Devido a frequência de transfusões, o paciente falcêmico pode sofrer uma aloimunização contra antígenos de vários sistemas de grupos sanguíneos. A melhor forma de prevenir esse tipo de reação é realizando a fenotipagem das hemácias para teste de compatibilidade. O presente estudo teve como objetivo abordar sobre a transfusão de hemácias em pacientes falcêmicos, elencando também as reações que podem ocorrer em função dessa terapia e os procedimentos que devem ser tomados para evitar tais reações, abordando também o papel do biomédico nesse processo. Trata-se de uma pesquisa literária realizada com base em artigos científicos nacionais e internacionais, monografias, leis e livros que foram selecionados utilizando como critério a abordagem do tema escolhido. Foram utilizados como fontes de pesquisa os sites SCIELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Pubmed, Biblioteca Virtual do Ministério da Saúde e livros presentes na biblioteca física e virtual do Instituto Educacional Santa Catarina (IESC). A terapia transfusional é uma ótima opção de tratamento das complicações da anemia falciforme, porém devem ser utilizadas medidas para prevenir os problemas pós-transfusionais.
Úlceras por pressão (UP) são importantes causas de morbidade, além de possuir alto custo ao sistema de saúde, agrega um risco adicional para os portadores pois impõe a perda da barreira constitucional da pele. A fotobiomodulação com laser de baixa potência (FBM) mostra efetivas ações analgésica, antinflamatória e reparação dos tecidos. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a eficácia da FBM no tratamento de UP a partir de uma revisão integrativa norteada pela pergunta “Qual a eficácia da fotobiomodulação no tratamento de úlceras por pressão?”. O estudo incluiu sete artigos selecionados nas bases de dados Scielo, PubMed e LILACS entre o período de 2015 e 2020. Após a leitura, análise e interpretação dos dados, pôde-se verificar que, apesar de haver poucos estudos recentes sobre a terapia a laser na temática da lesão por pressão, os artigos elucidam que a terapia com laser de baixa potência é uma modalidade promissora de tratamento, que proporciona redução do tempo de cicatrização e melhora no aspecto das feridas. Contudo, apesar de diversos estudos demonstrarem os efeitos benéficos desta, ainda não há consenso e protocolos específicos definidos que determinem parâmetros de irradiação, como comprimento de onda, energia, fluência, potência, irradiância, duração do pulso e intervalos entre as sessões de tratamento.
A hanseníase é uma doença infecciosa, de cunho crônico, ocasionada pelo Mycobacterium leprae. Essa actinobactéria bacilar possui afinidade com pele e nervos periféricos. É transmitida por meio do contato contínuo com pessoas multibacilares que não foram tratadas. A hanseníase é um agravo de relevância na saúde pública dos países em desenvolvimento. O Brasil está em segundo lugar na prevalência de casos novos no mundo, sendo que mais de 20% dos casos apresentam algum grau de incapacidade física já instalada. Este estudo visa identificar a ocorrência da hanseníase no Brasil e mostrar os principais exames laboratoriais existentes, dando ênfase à importância das ações de controle da doença e a aplicação do diagnóstico rápido e preciso. Foi realizada uma pesquisa literária, utilizando artigos e dissertações por meio dos sites, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Google Acadêmico e Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). O levantamento de dados foi coletado através do site do Departamento de Informática do SUS (DATASUS) e do Portal da Saúde do SUS. Os últimos dados publicados mostram que em 2016, 25.218 novos casos de hanseníase foram detectados, com uma taxa de prevalência de 1,10 a cada 10.000 habitantes. O diagnóstico de hanseníase é basicamente clínico e epidemiológico, complementado, quando possível, com exame histopatológico e baciloscópico.
