INTRODUCCIONLas plantas de la familia Burseraceas se caracterizan por ser árboles o arbustos con sustancias resinosas en casi todos los órganos, presentan canales resiníferos y balsamíferos en el interior de la corteza (Cuatrecasas J. 1957;Swart 1942).Ocho géneros están representados en América, seis de los cuales son endémicos y entre los que se encuentra el género Bursera, que alberga cuatro especies entre ellas Bursera graveolens que es conocida comúnmente como caraño, sasafrás o tatamaco (Cuatrecasas 1957).B. graveolens se encuentra distribuida desde Yucatán por Centroamérica hasta Colombia y Perú. La resina producida por esta especie es usada en medicina popular en el tratamiento de hernias, tronchaduras de los pies y para extraer cuerpos extraños de la piel (García-Barriga, 1992). Según Mendieta (1981) los extractos en ron de hojas y cortezas son aplicados localmente para lavar heridas y en forma oral son usados contra el asma, la diarrea, cálculos en el riñón (Bernal et al., 1990).Según García-Barriga (1992), de esta especie se han realizado algunos estudios fi toquímicos que reportan la presencia de aceites esenciales ricos en monoterpenos y sesquiterpenos, ácido elémico (C 35 H 45 O 4 ), ácido resínico I y II. Bernal; Correa (1990) comenta también la obtención de un compuesto oleánico (ácido 2,3-secoolean-12-en-2,3,28-tricarboxilico) y algunos de sus derivados además de una lactona.En este artículo nosotros describimos el aislamiento y la identifi cación de tres triterpenos tetraciclicos derivados del esqueleto del tirucalano que se caracterizan por tener una oxidación en el C-3, un ácido carboxílico en el C-21 y una insaturación en el C-24, y que no han sido reportados con anterioridad para esta especie. Además, la presencia de estos triterpenos del tipo tirucalano, mostrando oxidación en el C-21 tienen una importancia quimiotaxonómica, debido a que son los precursores de un grupo de compuestos modifi cados a partir de ellos que se han aislado de las familias relacionadas a las Burseraceae, mientras estos se han aislados de esta familia Gray, 1987;.Algunas evaluaciones de actividad antimicrobiana y antiinfl amatoria tanto de los extractos etanólicos como de algunas fracciones de hojas y cortezas de B. graveolens, se realizaron basados en algunos reportes que indican la presencia de triterpenos tetraciclicos responsables de la actividad antimicrobiana mostrada por resinas de especies del género Protium y Tetragastris (Gray et al., ABSTRACT: Bursera graveolens (Burseraceae), known in Colombia as "sasafrás", is useful for its medicinal properties and is rich in secondary metabolites. Humanismo y vida continúan en proceso de reconfiguración en el ágora digital. En las últimas décadas, se ha consolidado un “movimiento narrativo” con presencia de la bioética en esta ola. El presente artículo se orienta a plantear que el mundo de la vida y su sentido podrían encontrar en el saber narrativo elementos para fortaleceruna bioética en crisis en su camino hacia los 50 años.
El artículo muestra la estrecha conexión existente entre el concepto de ética y el de tiempo mesiánico en la filosofía de Emmanuel Lévinas. Esto significa que la respuesta ética se da en un tiempo discontinuo en el que –además de romper la continuidad del tiempo ininterrumpido del progreso– el sujeto se convierte en el mesías que responde al sufrimiento del otro. Para lograr este propósito, el trabajo muestra la crítica de Lévinas a la historia ontológica como olvido de lo singular; posteriormente presenta la posición intermedia entre la perspectiva ontológica y la mesiánica representada en el punto de vista de Bergson, para mostrar luego cómo –para Lévinas– es en la tradición judía donde es posible encontrar una respuesta ética al sufrimiento del otro en el ahora del tiempo mesiánico.
A partir de la experiencia con la pandemia de Covid-19, que mostró la condición de vulnerabilidad de los seres humanos, este artículo señala que los conceptos de calidad unidos a los sistemas de gestión de calidad y la búsqueda de la excelencia no responden suficientemente al reto de formar seres humanos con la capacidad para sentir con otros y para colaborar por encima de intereses personales y deseos de éxito. Esta pertenencia a una comunidad devela la condición frágil del ser humano, así como la necesidad de los demás para enfrentar con éxito las condiciones de riesgo, como es el hecho coyuntural de esta pandemia global. Desde la propuesta ética de Judith Butler, este artículo propone tener en cuenta la condición vulnerable del ser humano como camino para educar en el cuidado de los otros y del entorno. Por último, se concluye que reconocer y tener en cuenta esta condición de imperfección es el camino para responder al individualismo que se genera cuando se enfatiza la perfección individual y la obtención de resultados.
