Lateral Medullary Syndrome (LMS) is a well studied vascular syndrome of the posterior circulation territory. This syndrome is localised with its typical presentation including vertigo, nystagmus, hoarseness, dysphagia, ipsilateral cerebellar signs and Horner's syndrome with classical crossed sensory deficits, specifically loss of pain and temperature sensation affecting trunk and extremities contralateral to the infarct along with ipsilateral facial numbness. We present a case of Opalski syndrome which is a rare variant of Wallenberg syndrome, where lateral medullary syndrome is associated with ipsilateral hemiparesis and positive Babinski sign. This case report showcases one of the varied presentation of ipsilateral weakness in Lateral Medullary Syndrome or Wallenberg syndrome.
Thoracic aortic aneurysm is one of the late and uncommon presentations of syphilis. If the aneurysm is large it causes symptoms suggesting mass effect. Syphilis being a common disease worldwide has recently re-emerged. Early syphilis if left untreated can lead to a significant morbidity. We reported a case of 44 years old man who was incidentally detected to have syphilitic thoracic aortic aneurysm with features of SVC compression.
In DEC 2019, an outbreak of Covid19 occurred in Wuhan, China. The understanding regarding its symptomatology and
mortality has been constantly evolving. Although it is well documented that Covid19 is primarily manifested as
respiratory tract infection, studies indicate it should be regarded as a systemic disease with multiple system
involvement. Finding hematological profile of the patient and thereby finding its association with the mortality is of
priority. This study tries to associate ABO blood group and its effect on mortality and affection in patients with Covid 19.
In our study Blood group of A+ and O+ were seen the most among the study subjects and there was no significant
association between blood groups and mortality
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
