<p>On the basis of analysis of dq model of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and principle of field oriented control (FOC), detail modelling of PMSM drive system and simulation results presented in this paper. The PMSM model is based on electronic components rather than mathematical blocks, this enabled us to achieve simulation results more realistic.  Moreover all the modules of this simulation, such as inverter and pwm generator are made from scratch instead of using premade Simulink blocks.  Simulation was carried on the basis of step change in speed and torque then made performance comparison of several parameters such as abc current, dq current, speed and torque.</p>

This paper presents a new structure of permanent magnet flux switching machine (PMFSM) with multiple different sizes of rotor pole width. A robust single piece salient rotor is used to modulate and switch the flux linkage polarity in the armature winding and become the fundamental mechanism of these types of machines. The methodology of two-dimensional (2-D) finite element analysis (FEA) is used to evaluate the electromagnetic performance of coil test including flux line distributions, three phase flux linkage, cogging torque as well as induced emf. The resulting performances are analysed based on the variety of rotor pole width to meet the requirement of direct drive propulsion of Electric Vehicles (EVs).

Abstract-This paper presents the design of dc to dc Interleaved Boost Converter (IBC) which is controlled using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The output voltage can be controlled by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) switching technique which is implemented on the Altera DE2-70 Board. An eight bit Analog to Digital Converter circuit is used to monitor the output current. The simulation is carried out using Matlab Simulink software and simulation on the designed waveform is conducted using Quartus II software tools. The frequency of the PWM output voltage is set to 40 kHz. Various detailed analysis has been done to investigate the benefits of IBC compared to conventional boost converter. Meanwhile, theoretical analysis and hardware prototype has been done to validate the result.

Currently, an interest in electric vehicles (EVs) exhibited by automakers, government agencies and customers make it as more attractive research. This is due to carbon dioxide emitted by conventional combustion engine that worsens the greenhouse effect nowadays. Since electric motors are the core of EVs, it is a pressing need for researchers to develop advanced electric motors. As one of the candidates, switched flux machine (SFM) is initiated in order to cope with the requirement. This paper proposes a new alternate circumferential and radial flux (AlCiRaF) of permanent magnet switched flux machines (PMSFM) for light weight electric vehicles. Firstly, AlCiRaF PMSFM is compared with the conventional PMSFM based on some design restrictions and specifications. Then the design refinements techniques are conducted by using deterministic optimization method in order to improve preliminary performance of machine. Finally the optimized machine design has achieved maximum torque and power of 47.43 Nm and 12.85 kW, respectively, slightly better than that of conventional PMSFM.

Permanent magnet flux switching machine (PMFSM) is a joint venture of switch reluctance machine (SRM) and permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). It has become a prominent research topic for various applications because of robust rotor structure, high torque and power densities but few were developed for downhole applications mainly due to harsh environmental conditions. Formerly, most of developed PMFSMs for downhole applications were mainly concentrated on inner-rotor type design, and difficult to find research work on outer-rotor configuration. Therefore, this paper introduces the design and investigation of PMFSM with outer-rotor configuration for downhole application. Primarily, the geometric topology of proposed design is described in detail. Then, the no load and load analysis are implemented in order to investigate the initial performance of the proposed design.
