ResumoTeve-se como objetivo investigar o significado atribuído por alunos, pais e professores ao termo fracasso escolar e apontar outros que poderiam substituí-lo. Foi realizado um estudo exploratório e transversal de abordagem mista, do qual participaram 65 alunos, 66 pais e 58 professores da rede de ensino fundamental de São Leopoldo/RS, os quais responderam um breve questionário. Os resultados indicaram que a maioria dos alunos e pais responsabilizou o aluno pelas reprovações, enquanto os professores ressaltaram a multicausalidade do fenômeno (indivíduo, família, escola, sociedade). As expressões mais referidas pelos alunos para substituir o termo foram desinteresse, baixo desempenho escolar e dificuldade de aprendizagem. Pais e professores indicaram as expressões baixo desempenho escolar e negligência/descaso político e social com a educação. Os professores também sugeriram o termo desafios na educação, que inspira a ideia de transpor as dificuldades e não recai sobre um único sistema. Um número pouco expressivo de participantes considerou adequado o termo fracasso escolar.Palavras-chave: Fracasso escolar; rendimento escolar; ensino fundamental. Renaming the school failure AbstractThe purpose of this article was to investigate the meaning attributed by students, parents and teachers to the term school failure and to point out others that could replace it. A cross -sectional exploratory and cross -sectional study was carried out, involving 65 students, 66 parents and 58 teachers from the São Leopoldo / RS primary school system, who answered a brief questionnaire. The results indicated that most of the students and parents blamed the student for the disapprovals, while the teachers emphasized the multicausality of the phenomenon (individual, family, school, society). The expressions most often referred to by students to replace the term were lack of interest, poor academic performance and learning difficulties. Parents and teachers indicated expressions of low school performance and neglect, neglect of politics and society with education. Teachers also suggested the term education challenges, which inspires the idea of overcoming difficulties and does not fall on a single system. Este estudio, de enfoque mixto y diseño preexperimental con pre y post-test con un grupo, tuvo el objetivo de evaluar una intervención en el sistema familiar de estudiantes adolescentes con bajo rendimiento académico, inscriptos en dos escuelas municipales de São Leopoldo/RS. Siete familias participaron de una intervención y respondieron al Inventario de Percepción de Apoyo Familiar y una entrevista semiestructurada para los padres y los adolescentes. El rendimiento escolar fue evaluado por medio de conceptos. La intervención se llevó a cabo en cuatro sesiones quincenales de noventa minutos utilizando recursos expresivos. El análisis cualitativo indicó una mejora en el diálogo y la unión familiar, así como la adquisición de comportamientos relacionados con normas, límites y la organización de horarios para estudio, datos que fueron confirmados por el análisis cuantitativo. Se destaca la importancia de desarrollar intervenciones en el sistema familiar para ayudar a los padres a entender la necesidad de participar en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de los niños.
Resumo A evasão de participantes em pesquisas que avaliam efeitos de intervenções com pais de crianças e adolescentes tem sido pouco investigada pelos pesquisadores brasileiros, que enfrentam dificuldades para concluir estudos-piloto, frequentemente realizados com recursos escassos e amostras pequenas. Este estudo propõe uma análise crítica sobre experiências com a evasão de participantes em quatro pesquisas que avaliaram programas de intervenção, conduzidas pelos autores do presente artigo, à luz da literatura recente. A análise das experiências revelou percentuais de 40% a 80% de abandono após o recrutamento ou início da intervenção. Entre os motivos elencados para justificar o abandono estão: o desinteresse, a discordância entre os cônjuges sobre a adesão, a distância entre residência e local da intervenção e a incompatibilidade de horários. Conclui-se que a maior aproximação entre os pesquisadores e a comunidade pode resultar em aumento de confiança e adesão aos estudos, o que pode ampliar o potencial de inserção social e divulgação científica das pesquisas realizadas com essa população.
O presente relato de experiência apresenta uma intervenção sistêmica multifamiliar na qual foram utilizados recursos expressivos como instrumentos para reforçar o suporte familiar de adolescentes com histórico de baixo desempenho escolar, matriculados em duas escolas da rede de ensino fundamental de um município da região metropolitana de Porto Alegre/RS. As atividades desenvolvidas foram fundamentadas no conceito de suporte familiar e privilegiaram as dimensões afetividade, adaptação e autonomia. Os recursos expressivos utilizados como mediadores foram desenho, conto, escrita criativa, sucata, argila e música. Constatou-se que a utilização desses recursos propiciou um ambiente lúdico, descontraído e de cumplicidade, que facilitou a expressão de emoções, promoveu insight e estimulou o desenvolvimento de novos comportamentos relacionados ao suporte familiar, como partilhar atividades, elogiar, brincar e valorizar o grupo familiar, melhorando também o desempenho escolar dos filhos adolescentes.
