High velocity impact and shock or blast responses are a critical design characteristic determining sizing of composite parts and, ultimately, weight savings. This study demonstrates the applicability of peridynamics to accurately predict nonlinear transient deformation and damage behavior of composites under shock or blast type s of loadings due to explosions. The peridynamic predictions correlate well with the experimental results available in the literature. Therefore, peridynamics provides the ability to predict residual strength and durability for improving structural designs of composites under such loading conditions

Darboux transformation is constructed for superfields of the super sine-Gordon equation and the superfields of the associated linear problem. The Darboux transformation is shown to be related to the super Bäcklund transformation and is further used to obtain N super soliton solutions.

The material is modelled at the microscopic scale using microstructural data. First-principle studies available in the literature are used for characterizing the process of intergranular material strength degradation. The model consists of a polycrystalline AISI 4340 high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) thin, pre-cracked steel plate subjected to a constant displacement controlled loading and exposed to an aqueous solution. Different values of stress intensity factor (SIF) are considered, and the resulting crack propagation speed and branching behaviour are found to be in good agreement with experimental results available in the literature.

Two sets of super Riccati equations are presented which result in two linear problems of super sine-Gordon equation. The linear problems are then shown to be related to each other by a super gauge transformation and to the super Bäcklund transformation of the equation.
