Die in unserer letzten Abhandlungl) ausgesprochene Auffassung. dass das von uns synthetisierte 6, 7-Dimeth~l-9-[d, 1'-ribityll-isoallosazin mit Lactoflavin bzw. dessen Hauptanteil wahrscheinlich identisch ist, hat sich durch die weitere chemisch-phpikalische untl biologische Untersuchung bestatigt. Durch wiederholtes Umkrystallisieren des synthetischen Praparates konnten die geringfiigigen Schmelzpunktsdifferenzen von 1 bis 2 O, die fruher noch bestanden hatten, behoben werden, nnd die ausgezeichnete TI-irksamkeit des 6,7 -Dime thyl-9-[ d, 1 ' -ribit yl]-iso-alloxazins als B ,-Praparat s timmt mit derjenigen des schwer loslichen Lactoflavin-Hauptanteils ebenfa,lls iiberein.Der Schmelzpunkt mehrfach umkrystallisierter Lactoflavinpraparate liegt bei ca. 282O 2, (unkorr.). Durch Umkrystallisieren grosser Lactoflavinmengen ist es uns allerdings seinerzeit gelungen, eine kleine Spitzenfrsktion abzutrennen, die gegen 285-286 O schmolz; um diesen hohen Schmelzpunkt zu erreichen, muss aber vie1 Material sehr haufig fraktioniert werden. Cnser bestes synthetisches, uber das Acetat gereinigte 6,7-Dimethyl-9-[d, 1'-ribity1)-iso-alloxazin (Krystalldrusen, Fig. 1) schmilzt ebenfalls bei 282 O untl der Mischschmelzpunkt mit Lactoflavin zeigt keine Depression. A. Fonnicodehydrase. Die Fähigkeit, Ameisensäure zu Kohlensäure und Wasser zu oxydieren, kommt in hervorragendem Maße einer großen Anzahl Bakterien zu, eine Fähigkeit, die auch nach dem Abtöten der Zellen erhalten bleibt. Die Existenz der Fonnicodehydrase wurde z. B. durch die Eeduktion von Methylenblau oder die Aufnahme von Sauerstoff in Gegenwart von Formiat nachgewiesen, und die Kinetik der Reaktion -hauptsächlich von englischen Forschern [Quastel, Cook, Stephenson, Stickland*)] -ziemlich eingehend studiert In Extrakten aus Samen von höheren Pflanzen hat Thunberg 1 ) das Vorkommen einer Formicodehydrase nachweisen können. Auch in tierischen Geweben wurden Anzeichen für das Vorliegen dieser Dehydrase gewonnen, die hier jedoch offenbar nur eine untergeordnete Bolle spielt. Was die Komponenten der Formicodehydrase betrifft, so ergab sich schon aus dem Ergebnis von Fodor und Frankenthal 2 ), wonach Hefe-und Erbsenkochsaft die Aktivität der Dehydrase aus Erbsenmehl erhöhen, ein Hinweis auf die Mitwirkung eines Co-Enzyms.
