β‐(Bis‐phenyl‐phosphino)‐äthyl‐pyridin‐(2) (PhPäP) bildet mit Salzen des Nickel(II), Kobalt(II) und Zink(II) vorwiegend 1,1‐Komplexe, denen auf Grund ihres physikalischen Verhaltens eine verzerrt tetraedrische Struktur zugeschrieben wird. Eine Ausnahme macht dabei die diamagnetische Verbindung Ni(PhPäP)(NCS)2. Diamagnetismus zeigen auch die 1,2‐Komplexe Ni(PhPäP)2J2 und [Ni(PhPäP)2](ClO4)2. Sie sind wahrscheinlich verzerrt oktaedrisch bzw. planar‐quadratisch gebaut. Von Kupfer(I) konnten die Komplexe Cu(PhPäP)Cl und Cu(PhPäP)Br dargestellt werden.
2‐(β‐Amino‐äthyl)‐pyridin bildet mit Nickel(II)‐, Kobalt(II)‐ und Zink(II)‐Ionen 1,2‐Komplexe. Silber(I)‐Ionen liefern nur 1,1‐Komplexe, während von Kupfer(II) Komplexe beider Typen darstellbar sind. In keinem Fall gelang die Isolierung von 1, 3‐Komplexen. An Hand von Vergleichen mit anderen Diaminen, die Chelatsechsringe bilden können, wird gezeigt, daß 1, 3‐Komplexe von 2‐(β‐Amino‐äthyl)‐pyridin auch in wäßriger Lösung nur unter extremen Bedingungen existenzfähig sind.
Im Gegensatz zu Kupfer(II)‐Halogeniden, welche mit N‐substituierten 2‐(β‐Amino‐äthyl)‐pyridinen 1,1‐Komplexe bilden, reagiert hydratisiertes Kupfer(II)‐perchlorat mit diesen Liganden unter partieller Hydrolyse zu Komplexen mit μ‐Hydroxostruktur. An Hand von spektralen und magnetischen Untersuchungen wird versucht, die mögliche Feinstruktur dieser Verbindungen und den Substituenteneinfluß zu klären. Der Ligand 2‐(Di‐äthylaminomethyl)‐pyridin, welcher analoge Komplexe ergibt, wird in die Betrachtungen einbezogen.
β‐(Bis‐phenyl‐arsino‐)‐äthyl‐pyridin‐(2) (DPAsÄP) bildet mit Kobalt(II)‐ und Zink(II)‐halogeniden 1,2‐Komplexe, in denen die Bindung nur über den Pyridinstickstoff erfolgt. Dagegen wird in den von den Kupfer(I)‐halogeniden abgeleiteten Verbindungen [Cu(DPAsÄP)2][CuX2] (X = Cl oder Br) auch die Arsingruppe koordinativ wirksam. Vom Nickel(II) lassen sich sowohl 1,1‐als auch 1,2‐Komplexe des DPAsÄP herstellen, die sich in Abhängigkeit von den zusätzlich vorhandenen anionischen Liganden hinsichtlich des koordinativen Verhaltens teils den Kupfer(I)‐, teils den Kobalt(II)‐Komplexen anschließen. Es werden Vergleiche mit den Chelaten des β‐(Bis‐phenyl‐phosphino)‐äthyl‐pyridins‐(2) angestellt.
Das 2‐(β‐Hydroxyäthyl)‐pyridin bildet mit Kupfer(II)‐, Zink(II)‐, Kobalt(II)‐ und Nickel(II)‐Ionen 1,2‐Komplexe. Vom Zink(II) wird auch ein 1,1‐Komplex beschrieben. In keinem Fall gelang die Isolierung von 1,3‐Komplexen. Der Komplexbildner fungiert in den meisten Fällen als zweizähliger Ligand. Bei der Umsetzung mit Kobalt(II)‐ bzw. Nickel(II)‐chlorid entstehen jedoch Komplexverbindungen, in denen nur der Pyridinstickstoff als Donator wirkt.
