Summary
A novel Cu/Na‐CdS optoelectronic photodetector is prepared and applied for detecting the light in the UV and Vis regions with high efficiency. First, CdS and M‐CdS nanomaterials (M = Li, Na, or Cs) are prepared using the hydrothermal method at 180°C for 24 hours. The prepared nanomaterials have crystalline structures that are confirmed through X‐ray diffraction analyses. Na‐CdS has the optimum structure with a crystalline size of 17.5 nm and porous structure looks small grass. Moreover, Na‐CdS has the optimum optical absorbance and bandgap of 1.78 eV. Na‐CdS nanomaterial is applied as optoelectronic material for light detection under different intensities and wavelengths. The device detected the light in the UV and Vis regions with high efficiency. The current density (Jph) values increased highly in light in compared with dark conditions, in which Jph changed from 20 μA cm−2 to 2.88 mA cm−2 in dark and light, respectively. The detectivity (D) and photoresponsivity (R) were 1.5 × 1010 Jones and 38 mA W−1, respectively. Also, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) was 12% at 390 nm and 100 mW cm−2. The high properties of Na‐CdS optoelectronic qualify it to be applicable in the industrial field incorporated with high technology devices such as cameras and spacecraft.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
