In a market environment of power systems, each producer pursues its maximal profit while the independent system operator is in charge of the system reliability and the minimization of the total generation cost when generating the generation maintenance scheduling (GMS). Thus, the GMS is inherently a multi-objective optimization problem as its objectives usually conflict with each other. This paper proposes a multi-objective GMS model in a market environment which includes three types of objectives, i.e., each producer's profit, the system reliability, and the total generation cost. The GMS model has been solved by the group search optimizer with multiple producers (GSOMP) on two test systems. The simulation results show that the model is well solved by the GSOMP with a set of evenly distributed Pareto-optimal solutions obtained. The simulation results also illustrate that one producer's profit conflicts with another one's, that the total generation cost does not conflict with the profit of the producer possessing the cheapest units while the total generation cost conflicts with the other producers' profits, and that the reliability objective conflicts with the other objectives.

<p>Considering the importance of perturbations during short circuit (SC) in power conversion devices, this study designed to find out the efficacy of symmetrical short circuit (SSC) of the synchronous generator (SG) and doubly fed induction generators (DFIG). Both wind power systems were separately built (Park’s model) and simulated. Simulation results showed that the DFIG is more efficient, fault tolerant, and proficient systems as compared to the SG based on the transient time, steady state, maximum current, and voltage dip values. This study can extend to design protection schemes, more accurate, stable and optimal proficient wind power conversion devices.</p>

This letter proposes a novel method for the discrimination between magnetizing inrush and internal fault in power transformers based on the similarity of the current waveforms. The proposed method first normalizes and sorts the sample points of the differential current in a full fundamental frequency cycle to obtain a new sequence which is independent of the magnitude and initial phase angle of the original signal. Afterward, three indices are introduced to measure the similarity between the new sequence and a template, which are used to discriminate the inrush from an internal fault. Simulation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and its advantages over the conventional second harmonic restraint method. © 2017 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
