This paper shows inflow forecasting models in the Sobradinho hydroelectric plant which are based on artificial intelligence tools: ANN and fuzzy logic. In the first models two ANNs were chosen to forecast the monthly inflow in the period of one year ahead; in the second, an ANN and an ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) were used to accomplish the forecasting in the period of one and two months ahead; in the third, an hybrid system in which an ANN provides the annual forecasting in the period of one year ahead and the ANFIS disaggregates it monthly; finally, other hybrid system similar to the previous one was developed, but instead of an ANFIS to provide the disaggregation, the fragmentation method was used to disaggregate the annual forecasting into monthly forecasting. The inflow data used were collected from the ONS (National Power System Operator) in the period from 1931 to 2004. The performance of the models was assessed on the inflow data in the period from 2005 to 2008. The models results show to be very powerful.
The analysis of air quality is directly related to the health preservation of individuals who attend closed environments, climatized or not, and this factor can be linked to the place (un)salubrity. Certain polluting factors are potentiated by the lack of natural ventilation; in other cases, depending on the region, the natural circulation of wind is what brings pollution to the place. Considering that all environments can be affected by a sanitary decrease promoted by low air quality, the present work aims to analyze the air contamination indices of the Forum Lourenço José Ribeiro, located in the municipality of Olinda/PE. The methodology uses exploratory research in a case study to be carried out by obtaining quantitative data on carbon dioxide (CO2) indices, internal temperature and relative air humidity that were measured between february and june/2021, in the morning shift of the aforementioned building. The present work is limited to the breadth of the data to be researched, and it should also be considered that the researched period faced the limitation of face-to-face activities motivated by the Coronavirus pandemic, which substantially reduced the amount of exposed and polluting people in the premises Results obtained indicate a good indoor air quality in the evaluated rooms, both for users, servers and occupants of sealed and artificially air-conditioned spaces, with good air renewal. Future work should be guided by the search for solutions capable of improving the natural ventilation of the researched environments, in addition to research carried out during the face-to-face working hours of the servers of the Forum Lourenço José Ribeiro.
The objective of this work was to investigate the treatment of the theme Environmental education in a transversal way with the students of the 1st periods of the courses of Buildings and Integrated Sanitation of the IFPE (Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Pernambuco) -Campus Recife, under the perspective of awareness of these students, with mathematics as an important aid tool. The survey took place in July and August 2020, where questionnaires were applied through Google Forms to 80 students. In a second step, another form was sent to the teaching segment, in a total of 50 questionnaires. The questions addressed in the questionnaires to students led to points such as the perception of the existence of environmental problems, also seeking to analyze the degree of understanding of students in relation to mathematics as a support to environmental education. Subsequently, tabulation, statistical treatment and analysis of the data obtained through descriptive statistics were performed. The results revealed that a significant portion of the students came to understand that the environmental issue is not only a matter of nature, but also of society. Although, it should be noted that some of them can better understand what an environmental problem is than fully understand what the environment is. As for the professors, they demonstrated to relate to the current reality of the planet, however, a portion of this segment suggests that the structure of work to approach the theme is not so adequate.
