Daylily (Hemerocallis 9 hybrida Hort.) is a popular ornamental plant and hybrid cultivars are frequently selected for medium size, large number of flowers per stem, and flower color diversity. However, daylily selection is limited due to the lack of information on genetic parameters and their correlation to phenotypic characteristics. This study aimed at estimating genetic parameters and genetic correlations among full sib families of 13 daylily cultivars using REML/BLUP (restricted maximum likelihood/ best linear unbiased prediction) and to select families with high genotypic values for plant height and number of floral buds per stem. Crosses were performed among those cultivars and 24 families were obtained. In the third year, plant height, leaf length and width, stem number, number of floral buds per stem, and number of floral buds per plant were evaluated. The estimates of average heritability of families were superior to the estimates of restrict individual heritability for all characters evaluated. High heritability estimates were obtained for plant height, leaf length, leaf width, stem number, and number of floral buds per plant. Selected families showed genetic gain of 19.80% for plant height, 32.48% for stem number, and 38.64% for number of floral buds per plant.
Jambul usually propagates by seeds, which causes variability in the descendant plants and represents a problem in the formation of commercial orchards. The development of a protocol for vegetative propagation by cuttings would enable the reproduction of all features of the Mother plant, uniformity in populations and easy propagation. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and indolebutyric acid (IBA) on rooting of jambul cuttings. Twelve-cm-long cuttings from the median region of branches were prepared through bevel cut in the base and right cut above the last axillary bud, keeping one pair of halved leaves. Cutting bases were immersed for 10s in aqueous solutions containing NAA or IBA at 0, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg L -1 concentrations. Plastic trays containing medium sand were used in the planting. The cuttings were kept in a greenhouse under intermittent nebulization and, at 120 days after planting, the following variables were evaluated: percentage of rooted, with calluses, alive (not-rooted and without calluses) and dead cuttings; length of the three largest roots (cm); and number of roots per cutting. The best rooting was observed by using 1000 mg L -1 of both tested plant growth regulators. Rooting percentage was slightly higher under NAA relative to IBA.
Enio Luiz PEDROTTI 4 . ABSTRACTAgapanthus umbellatus var. minor is an ornamental plant a lot used as lip in gardens, its can used as cut flower. Your propagation is traditionally made the dividing the roots, what limits your propagation in large scale, with use of the micropropagation it is possible to enlarge the planting with seedlings of high quality. However, this process induces a great number of changes anatomical, morphologic and physiologic that they are decisive in the morphogenesis, in the growth and in the development of the plants in vitro. This work aimed at studying the morphological and physiological traits of shoots of Agapanthus umbellatus var. minor multiplicated. It's used explants shift of the shoots obtained in vitro and inoculated in medium MS with concentrations sucrose differents (0,0; 1,5; 3,0 e 4,5%) and two light intensity (70 e 140 mM m -2 s -1 ), totalyzing eight treatments, in factorial 4 x 2, the design utilized was completely randomized. The results indicated that the environment conditions, mainly light and sucrose concentration of the culture medium, influenced the development and the growth of shoots. It was observed that the absence of sucrose, even in the highest level light intensity, didn't at estimulate the photossyntesis the shoots. There was variation in results obtained; however advice the conc...
