NOTAS ALGUNOS USOS DE INDICATIVO POR SUBJUNTIVO EN ORACIONES SUBORDINADASEl uso de los modos, en oraciones regidas por verbos de emoción, duda o posibilidad, ha sido claramente explicado por Gili Gaya 1 , en lo que al español moderno se refiere. Se usa el subjuntivo en la subordinada siempre que ésta dependa de un verbo de emoción, tanto si "se expresa el temor o emoción sin afirmar la realidad del hecho (tengo miedo de que lleguen tarde)", como si "se expresa emoción ante un hecho que se afirma (siento que estés descontento)" ( § no).De igual manera, la expresión de la posibilidad, por ser "uno de los casos más claros de irrealidad" ( § 111), exige que el verbo subordinado se construya en subjuntivo: "podría ser que nos viésemos". La probabilidad es lógicamente un caso especial de la posibilidad, por lo que su expresión debe ser semejante. Los casos de desconocimiento se expresan también con subjuntivo, y con el mismo modo se construyen las oraciones de relativo que dependen de un antecedente desconocido o hipotético ("haré lo que Vd. mande", § 109).Sin embargo, en el español de México no es raro -aunque desde luego sea poco frecuente-encontrar expresiones de estas clases construidas con verbo subordinado en indicativo, fenómeno que no ha despertado el interés de los investigadores. Seguramente también en otros países de América podrán hallarse construcciones semejantes, aunque nada diga Kany sobre ello 2 .Recojo algunos ejemplos mexicanos de las distintas posibilidades: a) Con verbos de emoción: "Estoy muy satisfecha de que supo terminarlo él solo"; "Tengo miedo de que tu hermano fue el que se lo dio"; "No lo puedo remediar: me da coraje que lo hizo sin mi permiso" 3 .

En diversas ocasiones he procurado mostrar que la influencia de las lenguas amerindias sobre el español general de México ha sido muy débÜ y superficial. A lo que alcanzo, tal influencia se reduce a lo siguiente:En el dominio fonético, a la existencia de un fonema prepalatal fricativo sordo /s/, presente sólo en voces indígenas -como mixiote o xocoyote-y de rendimiento fonológico mínimo -[sísi] 'jabón vegetal' o [sales] 'zurrapas de frituras del cerdo'-; al sonido dentoalvelar africado sordo [ §] , que aparece exclusivamente en topónimos y antropónimos como alófono de /s/ -Tzintzuntzan, Pátzcuaro o Quetzalcoatl-; y a la articulación explosiva de /t/ seguida de /l/ -tlapalería, ixtle-, realizada ya como combinación de dos fonemas existentes en español, pero no como conservación del fonema nahua originario lateral africado sordo /'l/ 1 . En el terreno gramatical, la influencia indoamericana sobre el castellano normal de México se reduce a la existencia de un sufijo -eco empleado en la derivación de gentilicios -yucateco, chiapaneco, guatemalteco, etc.-, que no cabe confundir con otro sufijo -eco, designador de defectos físicos o morales, de origen indudablemente lúspánico, presente en palabras como patuleco o cacareco 2 . Acaso también fuera posible atribuir a la influencia indígena la presencia en el español de México, de un sufijo -ifnjche, despectivo (cf. metiche, pediche, etc.), pero es hipótesis que habría que analizar con mucho cuidado.V en el dominio lexicológico, el más frecuentemente invocado por los indigenistas como prueba incuestionable de la fuerte interferencia de las lenguas amerindias en el español mexicano, la influencia se limita a tres centenares de palabras -incluyendo en esa cifra lexemas y vocablos derivados-de muy diversa vitalidad y de baja incidencia en el discurso (menos del 0.1%de promedio) 3 .* Esta breve comunicación fue leída en la reunión "Exploratory Workshop on Spanish in Contact with other Languages in the Western Hemisphere", celebrada en la ciudad de Nueva York del 7 al 9 de junio de 1978 bajo los auspicios del Social Science Research Coun¬ cil y la coordinación del Dr. Eugenio Chang-Rodríguez. Como no parece posible que se lleguen a publicar las Actas de esa reunión, me animo a sacar a la luz aquí mi modesta contribución, por considerar que, siendo tan escasos los estudios dedicados hasta ahora al español de Yucatán, cualquier ensayo, por modesto que sea, podrá contribuir en algo al mejor conocimiento de una modalidad de la lengua española tan singular e interesante como la yucateca.1 Cf.
