O impacto da metodologia ativa para o desenvolvimento de uma aprendizagem mais significativa já está consolidado nos diferentes campos do conhecimento. Mais do que participar, a construção da aprendizagem exige envolvimento e atitude daqueles envolvidos no processo. Em virtude disso, este artigo objetiva descrever, pela percepção dos discentes, quais métodos contribuíram, de forma mais eficaz, para o desenvolvimento das habilidades e das competências propostas para a disciplina. Adotou-se como caminho metodológico a aplicação de um Survey utilizando-se de uma estratégia quantitativa para a análise dos dados. A população alvo do estudo foram os discentes da disciplina “Administração Aplicada”, totalizando 37 alunos do primeiro período do Ensino Superior. Os dados coletados demonstram que o fator expectativa exerce uma influência positiva no ato de aprender e desenvolver habilidades, independente de qual seja essa habilidade e o método utilizado. As análises estatísticas demonstram existir ligeiras dispersões ao relacionar o método e o desenvolvimento das habilidades e competências analisadas. Quanto à frequência e as notas, percebeu-se uma melhora significativa, demonstrando que a metodologia ativa desperta no discente um compromisso maior com a aula o que reflete no desempenho mais elevado. É significativo ressaltar o efeito positivo que a aprendizagem ativa traz para os discentes. Em turmas de primeiro período, frente aos dados analisados, a proximidade entre discente e experiências reais fez com que eles estivessem mais abertos à aprendizagem. Inferiu-se que o método que mais contribuiu, na visão dos discentes, para o desenvolvimento de habilidades e competências propostas foi o PBL, haja vista que propicia um aprender mais concreto por meio da resolução de problemas reais dentro do contexto do curso.
