Objetivo: avaliar a adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso, físico e nutricional em idosos com diabetes mellitus tipo 2 e variáveis associadas. Metodologia: o desenho é uma coorte transversal, com amostra obtida por conveniência, uma vez que precisam atender aos critérios de inclusão e exclusão da pesquisa. O estudo foi realizado no Ambulatório de Nutrição/Diabetes, do Núcleo de Apoio ao idoso (NAI/UFPE), com pacientes atendidos regularmente no período de 2011-2019. A população foi constituída por 147 idosos portadores de diabetes tipo 2. Resultados: houve adesão significativa ao tratamento medicamentoso, baixa em relação ao plano alimentar e moderada em atividade física, sendo influenciados por fatores relacionados às limitações socioeconômicas, geográficas e de cunho educativo. Conclusão: apesar da alta adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso, é importante ressaltar que os parâmetros que estão mais relacionados com mudanças no estilo de vida apresentam evidências insuficientes na literatura que apontem adesão significativa a longo prazo, concordando com os achados encontrados no presente estudo.

Avaliação antropométrica e dietética de idosas em três instituições de longa permanência de Recife-Pernambuco Anthropometric and dietetics evaluation of elderly people in three long stay institutions of Recife-Pernambuco
Objetivo: avaliar a frequência e os fatores associados à concentração de gordura abdominal em funcionários da área de saúde de uma universidade pública. Métodos: estudo transversal realizado em funcionários da área de saúde da UFPE, na cidade de Recife/PE/Brasil. Foram coletados dados demográficos (sexo e idade), socioeconômicos (grau de instrução) e de estilo de vida (prática de atividade física, hábito de fumar e de beber); antropometria para o diagnóstico de obesidade global/abdominal, realizados pelo índice de massa corporal (IMC) e pela circunferência da cintura (CC), respectivamente. Resultados: houve predominância de excesso de peso (60,0%), com 20,0% obesos, sem diferença estatística entre os sexos. A obesidade abdominal foi detectada em 56,3% dos homens e 81,6% das mulheres, com associação estatisticamente significante entre a obesidade abdominal e o sexo feminino, a faixa etária ³ 50 anos e o IMC na faixa de excesso de peso. Conclusão: obesidade abdominal foi elevada neste grupo, com prevalência maior nas mulheres. Essa frequência segue a tendência brasileira e mundial desse agravo.
