FUZZY SYSTEM TO PREDICT PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF BROILER CHICKS FROM 1 TO 21 DAYS OLDABSTRACT: A fuzzy inference system was developed based on literature data to predict feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion of broiler chicks from 1 to 21 day old submitted to different thermal conditions. The fuzzy system was structured based on three input variables: age of chick (weeks), ambient temperature (°C) and ambient relative humidity (%); and the output variables considered were: weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion. The inference was performed using the Mamdani's method, which consisted of the elaboration of 45 rules, and the defuzzification using the Center of Gravity method. Comparing literature data with the results obtained by the fuzzy system proposed, it is possible to conclude that the fuzzy system predicts satisfactorily the weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion, which R 2 were 0.995, 0.998, and 0.976, respectively. The weight gain predicted by the fuzzy system was validated by experimental field data, which obtained R 2 = 0.9753, presenting a considerable use potential in automatic acclimatization systems.KEYWORDS: modeling, fuzzy inference, environmental comfort.
Fuzzy modeling applied in the evaluation of broiler performance A B S T R A C TWith the objective of analysing the effect of age and air temperature on the productive responses of broilers, an experiment with bred animals of 1 to 21 days of age was conducted in acclimatized wind tunnels, using the results obtained in the development and testing of a Fuzzy mathematical model able to quantify this relation. The model developed presented as entry variables: temperature in the first week of life (°C), temperature in the second week of life (°C) and age of the bird (in weeks), and as the output variables: feed intake (FI, g), weight gain (WG, g) and feed conversion (FC, ). The Mandani inference method was used in the elaboration of 36 rules, and the center of gravity method was applied on the defuzzification. Based on the results, in comparing the measured data with that obtained by simulation with the proposed Fuzzy model, the coefficients of determination (R 2 ) of the order of 0.9989; 0.9960 and 0.9801 were verified for FI, WG and FC, respectively. BROILER BEHAVIOR UNDER DIFFERENT THERMAL ENVIRONMENTSABSTRACT: Thermal environment maintenance is a challenge in poultry industry, since birds change their behavior in response to environmental alterations. Therefore, understanding these changes may help breeders in this issue. In this context, we aimed at evaluating broiler behavior within the first two weeks of life under several chamber air temperature variations. The animals were videotaped to aid monitoring birds in group behavior, frequency of use of drinker, feeder and intermediate areas. The results showed that under low-temperature stress, birds tended to group together within flocks most of the time; thus, affecting the development and poultry breeding efficiency.KEYWORDS: animal environment, bioclimatology, thermal comfort, poultry.
ABSTRACT:The goal of this study was to develop a fuzzy model to predict the occupancy rate of free-stalls facilities of dairy cattle, aiding to optimize the design of projects. The following input variables were defined for the development of the fuzzy system: dry bulb temperature (T db , °C), wet bulb temperature (T wb , °C) and black globe temperature (T bg , °C). Based on the input variables, the fuzzy system predicts the occupancy rate (OR, %) of dairy cattle in free-stall barns. For the model validation, data collecting were conducted on the facilities of the Intensive System of Milk Production (SIPL), in the Dairy Cattle National Research Center (CNPGL) of Embrapa. The OR values, estimated by the fuzzy system, presented values of average standard deviation of 3.93%, indicating low rate of errors in the simulation. Simulated and measured results were statistically equal (P>0.05, t Test). After validating the proposed model, the average percentage of correct answers for the simulated data was 89.7%. Therefore, the fuzzy system developed for the occupancy rate prediction of free-stalls facilities for dairy cattle allowed a realistic prediction of stalls occupancy rate, allowing the planning and design of free-stall barns.
