Interactive Virtual Academic System Prototype (InVesa) is a conceptual automated system dedicated to students where a theory of personality test, Holland Code (RIASEC) is integrated to aid students in selecting the ideal elective subjects for their Cognitive Science course. With InVesa, rather than giving alerts to academic advisors, students are assigned personalized advice by the system on the recommended elective subjects based on their RIASEC result. A student may choose to accept a list of subjects' recommendations from the system or to retake the RIASEC test until they are satisfied with the suggested subjects provided by the system. In addition, students with less time meeting their academic advisors to consult on their subject enrolment may avoid general issues that are common in the standard appointment registration system, such as multiple registrations and long queues when scheduling an appointment. It can be concluded that the proposed application meets the requirements. The proposed application provides a convenient and efficient solution to gain the required information and will benefit the targeted users, which achieves and fulfills the forth of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of Quality Education for better education quality for all in terms of gender, age and status.
This study aims to determine the frequency and correlates of suicidal thoughts among students who are studying at a public university in Malaysia. A convenience sample strategy was used to recruit 371 undergraduate students for this survey research project. The respondents' information was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. According to the findings, a significant number of respondents scored positive for the emergence of suicidal ideation. The study also suggests that there is a strong link between suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety in this study. However, there is no notable link between suicidal ideation and substance use.
Even though university students realize that their journey is challenging and sometimes suffering, they kind of have to endure whatever it is, in order to get a better life or position in the society. Like it or not, university students may expose themselves to tiring and stressful situations which eventually may affect their emotional or psychological states which may lead them to the idea of taking their own life or commit suicide. The purposes of the present study were to examine the prevalence of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among university students aged between 22 and 32 years. Using a simple random sampling technique, a total of 3879 (52.4% female) university students from two Malaysian public universities was surveyed by means of a self-reported questionnaire. In this study, 22.1% students reported to have suicidal ideation and 1.6% students reported to have almost committed suicide, but stopped doing it, of whom 43 also participated in an interview. Those who agreed to participate in the interview were also the one who fell in the Suicidal Ideating Student (SIS) category, and they also admitted to have almost committed suicide before. All the data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Based on the finding of the present study, major, gender, race, and accommodation had no impact on suicidal ideation among university students for the past twelve months. Based on the semi-structured interview with those students who nearly committed suicide, but stopped their attempts, there were five common reasons revealed in the present study.
This study aimed to design and develop a mobilebased digital quail farming guide for the B40 elderly group. This mobile application, known as Quaillogy, provides learning materials for basic quail farming and different topics in entrepreneurship and marketing. The underlying motivator is to provide a tool for the B40 household income elderly to learn independently at their own pace about quail farming through mobile devices. The recently increased request for quail production will benefit the target users in becoming beginner breeders and entrepreneurs. Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM) was selected as the methodology that fit the requirement of developing the mobile application. It consisted of six stages: problem identification, definition objective, design and development, demonstration, evaluation, and communication. The evaluations from experts and users' views were conducted to examine the content and user interface design. In sum, this research achieved the objectives as the evaluations showed positive feedback. Quaillogy does contribute to the elderly by offering knowledge about basic quail farming and exposing them to basic digital marketing strategy knowledge. It indirectly benefits the elderly to initiate quail farming and eventually generate side income to support the upsurge in living expenses. The findings were aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of "Quality Education", "No Poverty", and "Decent Work and Economic Growth". Knowledge transmission using mobile technology can provide an inclusive and equitable quality of education. At the same time, reducing income inequality and enriching economic growth can eradicate poverty. Future research may also be able to take more advantage of Quaillogy.
