In the recent years, a number of emerging issues are posing serious challenges to the small and medium sized enterprises (SME's) in Malaysia. Hence, these enterprises enter the new era, dramatic challenges begun such as establishing new enterprises, globalization, financial constraints, high turnover, low motivation among employees, lack of human capital building, and more challenges ahead. Thus understanding the problems and challenges are fundamental solutions to expand and strategize SME's to future progress and grows. Therefore this article examines the background and challenges face by SME's which play a vital role in the nation growth. The uniqueness of this paper is the emphasis on the human resource development perspective which is important for SME's to progress and be competitive. Finally, this article maps out how future research can be more sensitive to how SME's actually develop their own human resource development for future development.
In recent years, accounting fraud has occurred widely throughout the globalised business sector. This does not exclude Malaysia as it is emerging as one of the many countries with high expanding rates of business deals. Due to the fact that Malaysian companies are still new and inexperience in managing business and its accounts, this has created undetected loopholes for accounting fraud committers. This has also created bad perceptions by the public regarding the various fraudulent activities that emerge in the country. Therefore this article examines the public acceptance towards occurrence of fraud detection which plays a vital role in business growth. The uniqueness of this paper focuses on the literature review on the public acceptance on fraud detection. This article maps out the importance of fraud detection to strengthen and be competitive in the business.
There is an abundance of studies on work engagement found in the literature. However, there is a lack of grounded research framework to be based on relating stress to work engagement of Malaysian private academics. Therefore, this study is aimed at 1). reviewing the literature on stress and work engagement; 2). applying the ASSET model of stress to work engagement; 3). hypothesizing the relationships among these variables, and 4). deriving a conceptual framework. Based on the literature review on psychological literature and the application of the ASSET model of stress, the paper proposes a model of the relationship between stress and work engagement through commitment and health. Suggestions for practice and future research are also presented.
Turnover intentions in academic institutions has become one of the main concern of the management as surviving and achieving excellence is very much about having the knowledgeable and committed employee. Therefore, it is one of the main and foremost issue for a management of higher education institution to give important. There are many factors that influence an academician to have turnover intentions. Hence, this study’s focus was to investigate the relationship between role ambiguity, work-overload, work family conflict, co-workers warmth, co-workers competence and turnover intentions. The variables studied in this paper were analyse from a research framework. The finding of this study has been discussed on role ambiguity, work-overload, work family conflict, co-workers warmth, co-workers competence and turnover intentions. Conclusion has been drawn from the support of literature that states that the variables influences on turnover intentions. This paper’s finding provides valuable guidance for researcher and practitioners to overcome and improve the current mechanism to reduce turnover intentions. The research has also found few new paths for thinking on how to manage employees that having turnover intentions in any organizations.
