ABUNDANCE OF HERBIVORE INSECTS ASSOCIATED TO PEQUIZEIRO (Caryocar brasiliense)ABSTRACT
Influence of rubber tree clones (Heve a spp.) in the biology of Erinnyis ello ello (L . , 1758 ) (Lepidoptera , Sphi ngidae )The influence of 11 rubber tree clones on the development of Erinnyis e l lo ello was evaluated by some biologicalpa rameters. The e xperiment was carrie d out under laboratory condition s (2 5 ± 1Oc , 70 ± 10% R.H . and 14-hour photophase). The larvae were fed with leaves of i nte rmed i ate age f r om the several rubber tree c l ones . It was observed the influence of the clones o n the length and viability of the larval, pre-pupal and pupal stages , on larval and pupal weight and on the perce ntage of malformed adults. There was a p ositive correlation between the lenght of larval stage and the number of ins tars. There was an increase in the number of larval instarsRecebido em 29/0 1/86 Pesquisa r ea l i z ada com o apoio financeiro do FINEP, constit uindo parte da dis s ertação apresentada à ESALQ / USP pelo primeiro autor , para obtenção do título de Mestre em Ciências Biológicas, Área de Concentraçã~ E~ tomologia .
