PurposeBased on the E-Service Quality (E-SQ) model, this study investigates the effects of self-service technology (SST) quality attributes, specifically automated teller machines (ATMs), on customer satisfaction. The interaction effects of technological optimism on the abovementioned link are also examined. SST usage is conceptualized as a multidimensional construct that consists of five dimensions (reliability, security, convenience, functionality and responsiveness).Design/methodology/approachThe data were collected through a survey of a sample of Malaysian participants who used cash-recycling ATMs. The proposed theoretical model was tested using partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modeling (SEM).FindingsThe results suggest that reliability, convenience, and functionality are critical factors that affect customer satisfaction in using ATMs. Technological optimism was found to weaken the relationship between reliability and customer satisfaction.Practical implicationsConsidering the relative novelty of cash-recycling ATMs in the market, banks should ensure a smooth, error-free and accessible functioning of the system. Special attention has to be given to tech-savvy consumers whose higher level of optimism, with an increase of perceptions of reliability, may suppress their heighten sense of fulfillment. This customer group could be offered interactive digital engagement through mobile applications and social networking channels.Originality/valueThe E-SQ model is a helpful tool to understand the reasons underlying user satisfaction with cash-recycling ATMs. The results also contribute to the theoretical development of the E-SQ model through the integration of technological optimism as a contingent factor.
The rapid development in social commerce creates a new opportunity for businesses. With the use of social technologies they are able to create an environment that is on a socially interactive platform. These social bonds can drive online social support in e-commerce, the result is shown by trusts created and increased intention to use social commerce. This article will examine the factors that triggered consumers' intention to purchase using social commerce. A total of 184 respondents were chosen for this study to investigate factors that might contribute to customers' purchasing intention. The findings provide a better understanding on factors that contribute to intention to purchase, which comprise shopping enjoyment, perceived usefulness, trust, security, perceived quality, perceived value, ease of use and transaction convenience. It also suggests that online firms should consider these contextual factors in order to facilitate consumers' adoption behavior.
Objective – Malaysia is ranked sixth in the Asia Pacific region for obesity and diabetes and it is ranked the first among the Southeast Asian countries. Obesity and diabetes can cause serious non-communicable diseases such as heart disease and hypertension. Buying habit and eating habit are strongly correlated and these habits are very much influenced by the e-word-of-mouth (e-WOM). However, lack of studies in this aspect creates difficulties in making a consensus on the relationships between the variables concerned. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between e-WOM and consumer purchase intention among Malaysian dietary supplement products’ consumers. Design/methodology – The brand image was introduced as a moderating variable between the e-WOM (quality, quantity and sender expertise) and customer purchase intention. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed to analyse 213 usable sets of questionnaire. Results – The results indicate that e-WOM quality, e-WOM quantity and sender’s expertise have significant relationship with consumer purchase intention. However, brand image had no moderating effect in the association between e-WOM quality, e-WOM quantity as well sender’s expertise and consumer purchase intention. This study provides new insights into the e-WOM field of study, which in turn affects consumer purchase intention.
With rapidly-changing technology and increasing emphasis in managing information properly, Electronic Document Tracking System (EDTS) has been developed as a solution system to improve the efficiency of retrieving the document online at anytime and tracking the movement of documents in and out of Faculty of Office Management and Technology (FOMT) in University Technology MARA, Malaysia. FOMT have tried to improve document handling and use through the application of information technology. EDTS was developed within windows environment using Open Source tools such as PHP and MySQL. The application relies on TCP/IP and internet to support server and client communications.
The demand for Halal products is increasing tremendously not only from Muslim countries but also non-Muslim countries. The component of Halal industry can be classified into three areas, namely services, food and non-food. Halal logistics is categorized into the service component. Halal logistics covers warehousing, transportation and terminal operations. There are three principles of Halal logistics; avoiding direct contact with haram, addressing the risk of contamination, and perception of the Muslim consumer. For non-Muslim countries, the first two principles apply.Malaysia is regarded as a Muslim majority country; therefore, there is a need to explore the level of awareness on Halal logistics. This research paper aims to explore the level of awareness of the Muslim in the Klang Valley, Selangor. Data were collected through convenient sampling from 250 respondents and analyzed by using SPSS.The findings indicate that religious belief is a significant predictor of Halal logistics awareness among Muslims
Digital addiction has been called digital dependency and digital compulsivity. By any name, it is a compulsive behaviour that completely dominates the addict’s life. Digital addicts make the digital technology a priority more important than family, friends, and work. The digital technology becomes the organizing principle of addicts’ lives. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between Digital Addiction (DA) and academic performance among college students in public and private university. This study also identified the differences in digital addiction in terms of gender. The statistical techniques frequency and percentage are used to identify the patterns of using the Internet; t-test and one-way ANOVA is used to examine the differences in DA in terms of demographic factors. Pearson correlation technique will also be used to determine the relationship between DA and academic performance. This study helps to determine the level of digital addiction among college student and how its impacts their academic performance.
