The absorption of x‐rays by a solid organic phosphor can be enhanced to a great extent by the inclusion of a disperse second solid phase that consists of heavy atoms. In consequence the x‐ray to visible light conversion can be enhanced by one or two orders of magnitude when using composite screens. Experiments on composite anthracene‐
PbCl2
screens reveal an amplification factor of about 30. The experimental results are discussed and are compared with existing theories.
A general introduction is given to the in situ growth of anisotype multiheterojunctions. Structures based on the CdTe-GaTe system are discussed in some detail. Electrical measurements including J-V characteristics and the photovoltaic effect are reported.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
