This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of science e-modules for class VII junior high schools based on socioscientific issues to improve students' critical thinking skills. The type of research used is Pre-Experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Seririt in class VII A with a total of 30 students. Data were collected with 12 items of critical thinking skills test on global warming material through pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using Paired Sample T-Test and gain score test. The Paired Sample T-Test was used to calculate the significance of increasing students' critical thinking skills, but the gain scores were used to calculate the increase in students' critical thinking skills. The results of this research showed that there was a significant difference in students’ critical thinking skills before and after used science e-module in learning (sig. < 0.05). The normalized N-gain test also showed an increase in students' critical thinking skills with a value of 0.55 in the medium category. Based on the results of the Paired Sample T-test and the normalized gain score, it can be concluded that the e-module based on socioscientific issues is effectively used to improve students' critical thinking skills.
Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan produk e-modul IPA SMP kelas VII dengan model process oriented guided inquiry learning (pogil) berbasis isu-isu sosial sains yang memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan dengan mengakomodasi model ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate). Data pada penelitian ini berupa data kualitatif dan kuantitatif yang dikumpulkan menggunakan angket validitas, kepraktisan, dan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis. Uji efektivitas e-modul menggunakan penelitian pre-experimental dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) e-modul disusun dengan model process oriented guided inquiry learning berbasis isu-isu sosial sains kontroversial yang dilengkapi video, audio, dan kuis interaktif. (2) e-modul IPA dinyatakan sangat valid dari segi materi dengan Koefisien Validasi Gregory 1,0, valid dari segi bahasa dengan nilai rata-rata 96,36, dan valid dari segi media dengan nilai rata-rata 96,13. (3) e-modul dinyatakan sangat praktis oleh guru dengan nilai rata-rata 97,56 dan dinyatakan sangat praktis oleh siswa dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 96,36. (4) e-modul dinyatakan efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dengan nilai rata-rata posttest sebesar 74,86 kategori baik, serta gain score rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa secara keseluruhan yaitu 0,55 dengan kategori sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul IPA berbasis isu-isu sosial sains telah dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa.
