Postgraduate radiology training has traditionally followed didactic approaches; however, complex reasoning skills and critical thinking are essential in the field of radiology. Therefore, the shortages of radiologists in Africa have necessitated the need to review the use of technology in postgraduate education to improve efficient training and service. This scoping review was conducted to map the evidence on the role of technology in postgraduate radiology education and practice. A systematic scoping review search strategy was undertaken to review material published between January 2005 and August 2020 on the use of technology in radiology education. Data from the included studies were extracted and analyzed for emerging themes and presented in response to the research question. Seven articles described studies from the African continent. The most popular technological intervention was telemedicine, and several niche areas of technology implementation were identified (blended learning, flipped learning, digital teaching files). Furthermore, the most challenging aspects relating to technology use remain fiscal and credentialing constraints. Technology plays a role in postgraduate radiology education through networks, synchronous and asynchronous applications. It has the potential to increase support to doctoral students in the African context and alleviate some stressors associated with traditional, face-to-face didactic programs.
Green branding marketing techniques have become a popular area of research; however, the use of 'green' terms confuses both businesses and customers. This has resulted in consumers becoming more suspicious about the validity of green marketing and green management practices. The objective of this chapter is to outline the concepts of green marketing and green management in detail to clearly demonstrate how they can effectively achieve their aims of ensuring environmental sustainability. An analysis of current extant literature will be explored, and successful green approaches will be used to develop a theoretical framework for green marketing, green management, and sustainability to foster a more climatic conditions-sustainable economy. The literature in this chapter indicated the need for understanding the impact of green marketing and green management on the sustainability of the financial services sector in order to provide recommendations that can direct funding more effectively towards climate-resilient activities and a more climatic conditions-sustainable economy.
Neurological populations (NP) commonly experience several impairments. Beside motor and sensorial delays, communication and intellectual disabilities are included. The COVID-19 pandemic has suddenly exacerbated their clinical conditions due to lockdown, quarantine, and social distancing preventive measures. Healthcare services unavailability has negatively impacted NP clinical conditions, partially mitigated by vaccine diffusion. One way to overcome this issue is the use of technology-aided interventions for both assessment and rehabilitative purposes. Assistive technology-based interventions, telerehabilitation, and virtual reality setups have been widely adopted to help individuals with neurological damages or injuries. Nevertheless, to the best of our knowledge, their matching (i.e., combination or integration) has rarely been investigated. The main objectives of the current position paper were (a) to provide the reader with a perspective proposal on the matching of the three aforementioned technological solutions, (b) to outline a concise background on the use of technology-aided solutions, (c) to argue on the effectiveness and the suitability of technology-mediated programs, and (d) to postulate an integrative proposal to support cognitive rehabilitation including assistive technology, telerehabilitation, and virtual reality. Practical implications for both research and practice are critically discussed.
The recovery period post acquired brain injury (ABI) results in individuals becoming vastly dependent on family support and caregivers. Theoretical data and findings suggest that there is a lack of awareness and family support structures surrounding those affected by ABI. The empirical data indicated the need for further research and development aimed at improving conditions for recovery for individuals who are recovering from acquired brain injury. This chapter is aimed at creating awareness of assistive technology that can be used in conjunction with existing family support structures for people who are affected by ABI. The findings of this study have the potential to significantly contribute to practices and policies in society through research by providing a local country-contextual theoretical understanding of what needs to be done for persons with ABI and how AT can be used as a recovery tool within family support structures during the recovery process.
Social studies is seen as a more digestible integrated or interdisciplinary subject by the mode at which its contents are drawn from certain numbers of subject disciplines. This study seeks to determine the perceptions of teachers about the concept of integration in social studies curriculum. This descriptive study was carried out with 80 social studies teachers at the junior secondary schools level in Ekiti state, Nigeria. An instrument was used to establish the extent at which the concept of integration is perceived by social studies teachers. The results of the study showed that majority of the social studies teachers are not knowledgeable about the concept of integration, therefore, making its application in the teaching of social studies difficult. The researchers concluded that teachers should be resourceful and innovative in order to make learning more relevant for the benefit of the child being taught in the classroom and the nation as a whole.
