O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar dados de discussão da relação dos flebotomíneos com efeito de borda na área do Parque Estadual do Morro do Diabo. A pesquisa se deu nos meses de março e abril de 2012, com coletas iniciando às 18:00h e terminando às 22:00h. Para capturar os flebotomíneos foram utilizadas armadilhas tipo Shannon e armadilha tipo CDC. Foram capturados e identificados 1638 flebotomíneos de dois gêneros: um do gênero Brumptomyia e 1637 do gênero Lutzomyia, distribuídos em: 1620 de Lutzomyia neivai, 12 de Lutzomyia whitmani, 4 Lutzomyia lenti, 1 Lutzomyia aragaoi e 1 Brumptomyia brumpti. Destes, 17 foram capturados nas armadilhas tipo CDC e 1621 na armadilha tipo Shannon, sendo 50 machos e 1588 fêmeas. Com estes resultados considera-se que este local oferece risco de transmissão de Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana devido à quantidade de vetores capturados em apenas 8 horas e principalmente de Lutzomyia neivai e Lutzomyia whitmani, por serem incriminadas na transmissão de Leishmanias.
As barragens das Usinas Hidrelétricas Capim Branco I e II estão sendo construídas no rio Araguari em áreas dos Municípios de Uberlândia e Araguari-MG. Nas áreas do Município de Uberlândia, a paisagem é formada por ecótopos diferenciados, que podem favorecer a proliferação de mosquitos de importância sanitária. Este trabalho objetiva apresentar os ecótopos encontrados em Perfis Topográficos das áreas de implantação das barragens das UHEs Capim Branco I e II, na bacia do rio Araguari, no Município de Uberlândia, MG. Os perfis topográficos foram medidos a partir da margem esquerda do rio Araguari em direção ao topo da vertente, demarcados por uma linha central passando pelos locais onde se instalava a armadilha de Shannon, com uma faixa de 50m para cada lado. Nesta faixa foram identificados ecótopos como afloramentos rochosos, vegetação arbórea, bromélias, pastagens, mata ciliar, vegetação arbustiva e herbácea. Estes ecótopos podem oferecem condições propícias para a proliferação dos vetores.
