The global COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine/distancing measures have forced researchers to cope with a new situation. This paper aimed to analyze how the pandemic and its associated constraints have affected social researchers’ approach to research ethics. Drawing on an online qualitative survey with 193 Polish social researchers conducted in April and May 2020, we distinguished three approaches: nothing has changed, opportunity-oriented, and precautionary. According to the first, the pandemic was not regarded as a situation that required additional reflection on ethical issues or changes in research approaches. By contrast, the other two were based on the assumption that the pandemic affected research project ethics. The difference was in the assessment of changes in the area of ethics. The pandemic presented an opportunity and a threat to the ethicality of research, respectively. We discuss the implications of all three approaches for research and education.
This communication discusses the dialogical methods of teaching research integrity and ethics as a part of the positive integrity trend focused on supporting ethical behaviour. The aim of this paper is to offer a brief overview of the selected dialogical strategies based on cases that can be successfully implemented in teaching ethical research and when sharing experiences on good scientific practice. We describe such methods as: storytelling, rotatory role playing, and the fishbowl debate, along with the “Dilemma Game” tool, “ConscienceApp” performance, and a flipped classroom idea. These theoretical considerations are based on research conducted as part of a European project under the Horizon 2020 programme.
Constant development and commercialization of football makes it somewhat compelling to look for proven solutions in order to determine both the represented players' level of competence and the most important components of the effectiveness or efficiency of a game. Evolution of walking distance over the years directs attention towards the aerobic motor skills. In this report, there have been made attempts to determine the relationship between the effectiveness of the game and the endurance of the tested football players of the BSC Eintracht Südring Berlin club. The research covered a group of 22 players from the Berlin club. The tests were carried out in the autumn round of the 2018/2019 season in Berlin in the period from July to November 2018. The endurance was measured with the help of the Cooper Test, while the players' performance was evaluated by the method of competent judges. The results of the study were statistically analyzed in the Statistica 13.1 program. Descriptive statistics were carried out, the minimum (min), maximum (max), average (X) and standard deviation (SD) values were calculated, and the coefficient correlation was determined. It was noted a significant correlation between the effectiveness of the game and the endurance.
W wyniku jakościowej analizy treści dzienników uczniowskich i wywiadów pogłębionych z mło-dymi ludźmi powstały opisy siedmiu typów zdalnych lekcji: (1) seans spirytystyczny, (2) wojna i pokój, (3) prawda czasu, prawda ekranu, (4) stowarzyszenie umarłych kamerek, (5) wolna e-lekcja, (6) show must go on oraz (7) domowe przedszkole. "Well... It didn"t work out as we expected": Typology of remote lessons from the perspective of youth The aim of this article is to present the results of an analysis of students' experiences of participating in remote lessons during the COVI D-19 pandemic and to describe the emo-tional panorama of e-school from the perspective of youth. The paper is an ethnographic study on remote lessons, using the method ofthick description. he research on which the article is based was carried out between October and December 2020 among secondary school students. Qualitative content analysis of student diaries and in-depth interviews with young people resulted in descriptions of seven types of remote lessons: (1) spiritu-alist seance, (2) war in the room, (3) truth of time, truth of screen, (4) dead cam associa-tion, (5) free e-lection, (6) show must go on and (7) home kindergarten.
This article offers a preliminary diagnosis of Polish social theaters with regard to the crises of the individual and the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. The interpretive framework is Lidia Zamkow’s concept of the theater of ambulatory care, which allows us to locate the activity of social theaters in the context of Michel de Certeau’s tactics and Jack Halberstam’s low theories. The theater of ambulatory care recognizes the needs of individuals and communities in a pandemic crisis and reacts to them in different ways. We distinguish and describe three ideal types of diagnoses and the resulting treatments that theaters of ambulatory care use in a pandemic: therapy, conjuring, and revolution. The article is based on materials collected during two studies: a funded research project on the anthropological and social activity of the Węgajty Theater, carried out at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and a survey among theater staff during the pandemic, initiated by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute in Warsaw. Niniejszy artykuł zawiera syntetyczne omówienie metodologii oraz cząstkową prezentację wyników badań uczestniczących prowadzonych wśród młodzieży gimnazjalnej. Pierwsza część tekstu obejmuje opis przyjętych założeń metodologicznych i przebiegu badania terenowego, charakterystykę badanego środowiska oraz refleksje metodologiczne i etyczne związane z obserwacją uczestniczącą w gimnazjum.
W wyniku jakościowej analizy treści wypowiedzi uczestników i uczestniczek naszych badań scharakteryzowałyśmy cztery strategie badawcze: rezygnację, zawieszenie, kontynuację i (re)konstrukcję badań. Wyniki analiz opisujemy w odniesieniu do cech charakterystycznych nurtu disaster research. Pokazujemy, że badania w pandemii są bliższe perspektywie slow disaster research niż disaster research.
A high sports score is composed of many factors that determine the final result. It is difficult to state clearly which of them are the most important ones. However, it can be said that a right human material is necessary for success in sport. At the same time players with specific predispositions and highly qualified trainers, who together with their mentees aim at a specific goal to a certain degree, are needed. Researchers have already dealt with the designation of the most important predictors of sporting success in the last century. The process of determining the gradation of factors is extremely difficult and complicated. Nevertheless, it is the player's relationship with the coach that seems to be one of the most important aspects in the training process. Hence, the purpose of the work is to try to describe recruitment processes for the position of a trainer in Poland. Referring to the hypotheses and research questions, the authors showed some premises that might affect the selection of trainers in sport. Moreover, they might have some impact on the position of Polish sports disciplines in world rankings.
