Robert Bielecki & Kamil Trąba. Some general thoughts on tense and aspect in Modern Greek. The Poznań Society for the Advancement of Arts and Sciences, PL ISSN 0079-4740, pp. 39-54The morphological categories belonging to the semantic dimension of Tense in Modern Greek, as it is traditionally conceived, seem to be distinguished by means of non-homogeneous criteria. In this paper the temporal and aspectual meanings are treated separately. In consequence, Modern Greek has at its disposal (i) six Tenses and (ii) two Aspects. The meanings of the six Tenses are captured systemically by means of three Time-points: (i) Event Time, (ii) Reference Time and (iii) Speech Time, which are referred to each other in the order given by means of the relations of (i) previousness and (ii) simultaneity. In turn, the meanings of the two Aspects are captured by means of the notions of (i) Shortness and (ii) Longness, which are identified as the bedrock of the aspectual oppositions in Modern Greek. Other aspectual meanings such as Termination, Inchoativity, Completion, etc. are conveyed by the lexical stems of the appropriate verbs linked with the affixal markers of the two Aspects.
Niniejszy tom czasopisma Investigationes Linguiticae jest poświęcony językom specjalistycznym oraz tzw. małym językom. Publikowane teksty stanowią, po części, częściowo pokłosie obrad w ramach konferencji poświęconej tymże zagadnieniom, jaka została zorganizowana w Instytucie Językoznawstwa UAM wiosną 2015 roku.Teksty zamieszczone w pierwszym dziele tematycznym Nauczanie języków specjalistycznych i "małych jezyków poświęcone są zagadnieniom dydaktyki języków specjalistycznych i tzw. małych języków w szkolnictwie wyższym i średnim. Artykuł Sylwii Filipczuk-Rosińskiej to wnikliwe studium z zakresu nauczania s ł ownictwa związanego z prawem konfliktów zbrojnych słuchaczy związanych z wojskowością.
The objective of the paper is an attempt of comparison of Polish infinitive verbal category and Greek conjunctive mood . The main attention was paid to differences and similarities both of their morphology and functions. The present paper can be divided into three main parts. Firstly, the question of the aspect of Polish infinitive and of conjunctive in Greek is raised. Secondly, the morphology of Polish infinitive and Greek conjunctive systems are presented and compared, showing how different these languages are at this point. Part three concerns similarities and differences in usage of the Polish infinitive and the Greek conjunctive construction according to the aspectuality. The research showed that although most of the functions of the aspects are similar, their usage can differ according to speaker's intentions. Moreover, the main difference between the languages in question is based on a different interpretation of the closed-time expressions.
