Seeking to answer this question, this paper uses the notion of place as a social and symbolic space which relates to territoriality and identity. For the study, housemaids were interviewed in a qualitative research approach. The chosen method was life story, because the notions of time and memory are directly related to the place, DOI: 10.1590DOI: 10. /1984 o&s -Salvador, v. 22 -n. 72, p. 161-178 -Jan./Mar. -2015 www.revistaoes.ufba.br 162 Juliana Cristina Teixeira & Luiz Alex Silva Saraiva & Alexandre de Pádua Carrieri territory and identity. By the life trajectories of the housemaids, we realize a greater identification and sense of belonging with the current places of work and housing. In the workplace, the home as a productive sphere, there are at the same time a physical proximity and a symbolic distance between housemaid and employers. What stands out in their statements is a recurring denial of the condition of housemaid to allow themselves to belong to the places. The main contributions of this study reinforce both the symbolism of the place as its plurality, since they are places, in the plural, occupied by the housemaids; and reinforce especially the differentiation between being physically in a place and symbolically belong to this place. Furthermore, we observed that the housemaids, like any social subject, may experience different notions of belonging and territoriality, according to the different stages of her lives. Keywords: Places.
This article proposes a debate about the situation of Brazilian housemaids in the context of the COVID‐19 pandemic to expand the discussion on this scenario and link it structurally to racism and the history of colonialism, from the perspective of its successful project of establishing racial inequalities and relegating Black women to the most vulnerable conditions. As staying at home is not a choice for these women, the suppression of the right to life reflects how the necropolitics against Black Brazilians operates. In Brazil, the naturalization of this form of violence finds great support in a mixture of affection and inequality relationships, in a context in which domestic workers, specifically housemaids, figure as the memory of Black mothers, that is, the enslaved women of the colonial period, coming from the African diaspora. This memory is associated with the whiteness naturalization of the subordinate status of Black women.
Pa l av r a s -c h av e : triangulação; métodos; administração; paradigmas; validação convergente.Triangulation method in administration studies: generating conversations between paradigms or mere "convergent" validations?
