RESUMENSe describen las características morfológicas, físicas, químicas y mineralógicas de estratos sedimentarios recientes ubicados en un complejo de orillares del río Amazonas, cerca a la ciudad de Iquitos -Perú.Los perfiles de suelos presentan una morfología estratificada, predominando las clases textuales gruesas y medias. Las características químicas y mineralógicas reflejan el origen andino del material sedimentario y su escaso desarrollo pedogenático. Presentan reacción predominantemente neutra a moderadamente alcalina, el contenido de materia orgánica es muy pobre, el tenor de fósforo y potasio disponible varía entre bajo y medio, la CIC varía entre niveles bajos y altos. Sólo se ha detectado trazas de aluminio cambiable. La mineralogía de los suelos, según orden decreciente, reporta la siguiente secuencia: cuarzo importante, plagioclasas importantes, anfíbolas, micas, esmectitas, cloritas y posibles caolinitas.La fertilidad química de los suelos está más estrechamente relacionada con el tenor de partículas finas. La CIC, el fósforo disponible y la M.O. se incrementan en la medida que se incrementa la arcilla + limo.
La Amazonía reúne condiciones favorables para el desarrollo de la piscicultura, existe abundante tierra, agua, gran diversidad de especies de peces, tecnologías de crianza desarrolladas y gran interés por parte de la población. Para desarrollar la piscicultura con especies nativas, surge la necesidad de conocer las áreas con mayor vocación para el desarrollo de esta actividad y plasmarlas en un Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola, que sirva como instrumento orientador de las políticas de desarrollo piscícolas regionales y nacionales. En el presente trabajo se propone una metodología para la elaboración del Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola, teniendo en cuenta criterios relacionados con Hidrografía, Fisiografía (pendiente y las limitaciones por inundación), características del suelo, del clima; así como la oferta de agua de adecuada calidad y cantidad. El Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola tiene cinco niveles de importancia para el desarrollo de la piscicultura. Para el cultivo comercial, se identifican los de nivel muy alto y alto; mientras que para el cultivo de subsistencia se consideran los de nivel medio y bajo, siendo el nivel muy bajo, no apto para la práctica de la piscicultura.
RESUMENEn la Reserva Nacional Pacaya Samiria y en las áreas colindantes, que cubre un área de 3'236,878 ha, se ha realizado un estudio de evaluación de los suelos con fines de conservación y desarrollo.Cerca del 57% del área estudiada, está constituida por terrazas bajas con diferentes grados de drenaje, seguido por los complejos de orillares con el 20%. Las terrazas medias y las colinas y lomadas bajas, en conjunto sólo representan el 18%.Predominan suelos jóvenes de incipiente desarrollo genético formados a partir de sedimentos recientes y subrecientes de aceptable fertilidad natural y aptitud agrícola estacional, y suelos pobres, especialmente aquellos derivados de materiales residuales y sedimentos aluviales antiguos.De acuerdo con el Soil Taxonomy se ha logrado identificar ocho grandes grupos de suelos: Hydraquents, Fluvaquents, Tropofluvents, Tropaquepts, Eutropepts, Dystropepts, Hapludults y Tropofibrist, siendo los más abundantes aquellos que pertenecen a los Ordenes Entisol e Inceptisol.
