INTRODUCCIONLa amazonía peruana, conocida también con el nombre de selva, montaña, región oriental, región amazónica o hílea amazónica, abarca una extensión de 759,052Km 2 que, representa aproximadamente el 59% del territorio nacional y cerca del 14% de l a amazonia continental. S u población, estimada a 1990, es aproximadamente de 2'450,000 habitantes.Desde el punto de v ista climático, la amazonia peruana, en términos generales, se caracteriza por presentar elevadas temperaturas y fuertes precipitaciones, la temperatura media anual varía de 22.5 a 27.2 ºC y la precipitación media anual de 602 a 3,411 mm.En. la amazonía peruana se ha identificado tres grandes ecosistemas: el bosque pluvial, que se caracteriza por una estación seca, de no más de 3 meses consecutivos y presentar una vegetación natural típica de bosque húmedo tropical; el bosque estacional semisiempreverde, constituido por una pronunciada época seca, no mayor de 4 meses consecutivos; presenta una vegetación natural típica de bosque seco tropical; y el bosque espinoso, que se caracteriza por su baja precipitación y por ser una región árida (Sánchez y Benites, 1983).En esta región, se distinguen principalmente dos zonas diferenciadas por su altitud, morfología, clima, características de sus ríos, etc., que son la selva alta y selva baja.
) INTRODUCCIONLos diversos eventos geológicos sucedidos en la Región del Amazonas y la subsecuente acción de los factores climáticos e hidrológicos, han originado relieves típicos con rasgos diferenciales para cada forma de tierra. La interpretación de estas geoformas, con el propósito de diferenciar unidades edáficas, se realiza mediante el análisis fisiográfico, que consiste básicamente en el estudio detenido del modo o patrón de drenaje, grado de disectación de la superficie de la tierra, sedimentación, relieve topográfico, vegetación, litología y otros elementos fotoidentificables que permitan reconocer las diferentes formas de tierra a través de la técnica de fotointerpretación de pares estereoscópicos, permitiendo así, obtener una visión clara y sistemática de las diferentes unidades fisiográficas. Estas unidades sirven de base para la ejecución de los estudios de suelos.El propósito de este trabajo, es identificar y sistematizar las diferentes unidades fisiográficas comprendidas en los diversos estudios de inventario y evaluación de suelos realizados en la Región del Amazonas, y correlacionarlos con las unidades edáficas existentes en este espacio geográfico.La distribución de los suelos en las diferentes unidades fisiográficas facilita la comprensión de la problemática de este recurso, por parte de los investigadores, extensionistas, estudiantes y usuarios en general. FISIOGRAFIA DE LA REGION DEL AMAZONASEn la Región del Amazonas se han identificado tres (3) grandes paisajes que dominan el escenario fisiográfico: Aluvial, Colinoso y Montañoso.
RESUMENSe describen las características morfológicas, físicas, químicas y mineralógicas de estratos sedimentarios recientes ubicados en un complejo de orillares del río Amazonas, cerca a la ciudad de Iquitos -Perú.Los perfiles de suelos presentan una morfología estratificada, predominando las clases textuales gruesas y medias. Las características químicas y mineralógicas reflejan el origen andino del material sedimentario y su escaso desarrollo pedogenático. Presentan reacción predominantemente neutra a moderadamente alcalina, el contenido de materia orgánica es muy pobre, el tenor de fósforo y potasio disponible varía entre bajo y medio, la CIC varía entre niveles bajos y altos. Sólo se ha detectado trazas de aluminio cambiable. La mineralogía de los suelos, según orden decreciente, reporta la siguiente secuencia: cuarzo importante, plagioclasas importantes, anfíbolas, micas, esmectitas, cloritas y posibles caolinitas.La fertilidad química de los suelos está más estrechamente relacionada con el tenor de partículas finas. La CIC, el fósforo disponible y la M.O. se incrementan en la medida que se incrementa la arcilla + limo.
La Amazonía reúne condiciones favorables para el desarrollo de la piscicultura, existe abundante tierra, agua, gran diversidad de especies de peces, tecnologías de crianza desarrolladas y gran interés por parte de la población. Para desarrollar la piscicultura con especies nativas, surge la necesidad de conocer las áreas con mayor vocación para el desarrollo de esta actividad y plasmarlas en un Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola, que sirva como instrumento orientador de las políticas de desarrollo piscícolas regionales y nacionales. En el presente trabajo se propone una metodología para la elaboración del Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola, teniendo en cuenta criterios relacionados con Hidrografía, Fisiografía (pendiente y las limitaciones por inundación), características del suelo, del clima; así como la oferta de agua de adecuada calidad y cantidad. El Mapa de Aptitud Piscícola tiene cinco niveles de importancia para el desarrollo de la piscicultura. Para el cultivo comercial, se identifican los de nivel muy alto y alto; mientras que para el cultivo de subsistencia se consideran los de nivel medio y bajo, siendo el nivel muy bajo, no apto para la práctica de la piscicultura.
El estudio tuvo como propósito elaborar una metodología de microzonificación de Myrciaria dubia HBK Mc Vaugh, «camu camu», en base a los requerimientosambientales del cultivo, en términos de clima, tipo de suelo, pendiente, condiciones del medio, accesibilidad y predisposición de la comunidad por el cultivo. Para ello, primero se procedió a establecer una escala de valoración a cada una de las variables ambientales y posteriormente se seleccionó la zona de trabajo en la localidad de San Francisco, sobre un área total de 100 ha.El trabajo de campo se realizó en el mes de diciembre del 2000, y para ello se utilizó el método de transectos. La fase de gabinete se realizó en el Centro de Información de la Amazonía Peruana, en la Unidad de Información Geográfica y Teledetección, del Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonía Peruana - IIAP, en el mes de febrero del 2001. Del trabajo de interpretación de los mapas temáticos de la microzonificación de San Francisco, se han establecido las siguientes conclusiones preliminares: Con relación a la variable textura de suelo, se presenta más de 90 ha de textura buena para el cultivo, con predominancia de las clases arcillosa, arcillo-limosa y franco-arcillolimosa. La textura arcilla franja sólo ocupa cerca de 10 ha. Respecto a la variable pendiente de terreno, se ha determinado que mayormente existen suelos con buena pendiente, entre 0 y 20 % (53 ha), y pocas áreas (11 ha) con pendiente mayor de 20 %, no apta para “camu camu”.Con relación a la altura de inundación, 33 y 41 ha, muestran muy bueno (menos de 1 m) y bueno (entre 1 y 2 m) nivel de inundación, respectivamente. Y con respecto a la profundidad efectiva del suelo se ha detectado 39 y 46 ha con niveles bueno (entre 21 y 30 cm) y regular (entre 11 a 20 cm), respectivamente. La evaluación de pH nos indica que la zona de estudio muestra entre 32 y 64 ha con rangos de pH adecuado (entre 6.1 y 7.3) y moderado (entre 5.1 y 6.0), para el establecimiento del cultivo en esa zona.Finalmente, recopilando toda la información se ha determinado que existen 86.5 ha con aptitud buena a moderada para la instalación del cultivo en la zona de San Francisco de Asís.
