Se ejecutaron una serie de inventarios para determinar la estructura y composición florística de los tipos de vegetación en las áreas adyacentes a la carretera Iquitos -Nauta, Loreto, Perú. La estructura corresponde a bosques, arbustales, palmerales y herbazales. Las especies más abundantes son: Pachira brevipes (1017 ind. 10,73%), Tessaria integrifolia (253 ind. 2,67%), Montrichardia arborescens (158 ind. 1,67%), Eschweilera coriacea (154 ind. 1,62%), Virola pavonis (135 ind. 1,42%), entre otras. Se encontraron, además, once especies endémicas y doce amenazadas. Se reportan 24 comunidades vegetales, siendo las más importantes, de acuerdo a su extensión, los bosques de colinas ligeramente disectadas y los bosques de colinas fuertemente disectadas. Las comunidades vegetales más peculiares son los varillales sobre pantanos y los varillales sobre arena blanca. El área de estudio presenta una alta cantidad de especies y comunidades vegetales.
RESUMENSe estudiaron ejemplares procedentes del área ubicada entre los 73º 25'-75º 25' de longitud Oeste y los 4º 30' 10' de latitud Sur, durante los años 1982-87. Se determina madurez sexual, época de desove, proporción sexual, estrategias reproductivas, engrasanciento viscerales, grado de llanura, hábito e ítems alimenticios de las especies de consumo más importantes. Como Prochilodus nigricans, Arapaima gigas, Colossoma macropomum, Osteoglossum bicirrhosum, Serrasalmus sp. etc.
INTRODUCCIONLa cocha Carocurahuaite está situada en la margen derecha del río Ucayali, aguas arriba de Requena; Geográficamente, se ubica entre los 5º 09º y 5º 13' de latitud Sur; y 73º 04' de longitud Oeste. Este cuerpo de agua que, por su origen y forma, se le denomina desde el punto de vista fisiográfico como meandro abandonado, está formado por una "cocha principal" de gran tamaño, en forma de herradura, con una isla dentro de ella, .que ocupa aproximadamente una cuarta parte de su superficie; una "cocha secundaria, más pequeña, que se asemeja a una media luna, y dos caños de conexión, uno pequeño, entre la cocha principal y la secundaria y otro más grande, entre la cocha secundaria y el río Ucayali.Durante el período hidrográfico de avenidas, entre los meses de noviembre y mayo, el río Ucayali invade, a través de varios puntos, este cuerpo de agua, proporcionándole nutrientes y oxigenando sus aguas. Este fenómeno de enriquecimiento da a las aguas de la cocha Carocurahuaite especiales características físicas, químicas y biológicas que permiten una elevada productividad. Esta productividad excepcional se refleja en la gran magnitud de recursos pesqueros que alberga, destacando particularmente el camarón de río, como una especie de buena potencialidad.En esta investigación se presentan informaciones físicas, químicas y biológicas de las aguas de la cocha Carocurahuite y algunas características de la pesquería, así como métodos de conservación y comercialización del camarón de río,
La Amazonía peruana está conformada por una compleja red hidrográfica donde resaltan ambientes lóticos y lénticos con características peculiares, que son necesarios estudiarlas con la finalidad de tipificarlas. Con la información existente sobre las características físicas y químicas y con el apoyo de la lectura de los cuerpos de agua en imágenes de satélite Landsat, se ha establecido una propuesta de clasificación de los ambientes acuáticos para la Amazonía peruana. Para los ambientes lóticos (ríos) se ha tomado como referencia la clasificación de los ríos de la Amazonía brasileña, el origen de los ríos, el material en suspensión y las principales características químicas de sus aguas. Para los ambientes lénticos (lagunas) se ha considerado el origen de los mismos y las características químicas de sus aguas. En general, los cuerpos de agua de la Amazonía peruana presentan características químicas que los hacen de mayor productividad que las aguas brasileñas, debido a la cercanía de los Andes, de donde arrastran sustancias nutritivas a través de los sedimentos en suspensión.
Evaluaciones de mercurio en el agua y sedimentos de fondo del río Nanay, afluente izquierdo del río Amazonas, ha determinado un claro incremento de las concentraciones promedio que oscilan entre <20 ng/l en el año 2000 a 120 ng/l en el 2001. Se identifican lugares con concentraciones superiores a los límites máximos permisibles para aguas de zonas de pesca de mariscos bivalvos (Tipo V) y aguas de zonas de preservación de fauna acuática y pesca recreativa o comercial (Tipo VI) regulados en el Perú. Los sedimentos de fondo presentan concentraciones entre 0.005 a 0.0815 ìg/g, valores considerados por debajo de los límites máximos permisibles establecidos por la EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). En general las fuentes de mercurio del agua provienen parcialmente de los sedimentos del fondo del río debido a su remoción durante la extracción del oro aluvial.
