Moisture Content (NDWI) and Spatial-Temporal Analysis of the Surface Albedo of the Moxoto-PE Basin River A B S T R A C TRemote sensing allows the spatial and temporal monitoring of natural resources in several parts of the world efficiently and systematically been showing great assistance in the areas of agriculture, forestry, as well as meteorological and hydrological forecasts. Thus, several indexes have been presented more recurrently in the literature, such as vegetation indices and surface albedo. Considering the major changes occurring in space-time river basin and the influence of these changes in the hydrological cycle, this study aims to evaluate changes in space-time river basin Moxotó-PE by applying the NDWI and surface albedo, obtained with orbital images. We used images from Landsat 5 and 7-point orbit at 215
By performing data surveys quickly and efficiently, the laser scanning system has been widely applied for several purposes. In forestry application, many studies use LiDAR data to estimate forest inventory data. The present study aims to estimate the number of trees and their respective total heights, using different algorithms in order to compare their efficiency. In the field, individuals with DBH ≥ 3 cm were counted. LiDAR data were obtained from the Pernambuco Tridimensional Project -PE3D platform and processed in R software. The detection of individuals was carried out using point clouds and the CHM, both through the application of the Maximum Local Filter with a window of variable size based on in the relationship between the crown diameter and the individual's total height. In the CHM generation, two different algorithms were used (point-to-raster and pitfree), at different resolutions (0.5 and 1 in point-to-raster and 0.5 in pitfree) and smoothing with a median filter applied in the CHMs created by the point-to-raster algorithm, totaling six different types of CHM. The use of low-density point clouds for detecting individuals was shown to be inferior compared to the use of CHM, even in relation to CHM with wells. The smoothing method with a resolution of 0.5 m showed the best response in identifying the trees among the analyzed methods, contrasting with the technique used to remove the pits (pitfree), which revealed low precision, however, it obtained significant results in the estimation of height of trees.
The approaches to calculate these values are based on simple statistics, as quartile technique. The results showed that the dry years frequency varied of 21 to 28%. The normal and wet years frequency distribution varied of 38 to 61% and 12.5 to 25.5%, respectively. Cisterns with 16 m 3 volume (Brazilian standard water tank) showed be suitable to rainfall index from the region. The amount of rain water was enough to fill a standard water tank, using a roof catchment area of 40 m 2 . This standard tank is able to supply one family in Piaui State during one year, in the around 80% of studied years.
