Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar quantitativamente os parâmetros biofísicos obtidos por sensoriamento remoto, para a área de abrangência da Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Tapacurá Quantitative analysis of biophysical parameters of watershed by remote sensingAbstract -The objective of this work was to quantitatively evaluate the biophysical parameters, obtained by remote sensing, for the range area of the Tapacurá River Basin, in Pernambuco state, Brazil. Landsat 5-TM images of 7/10/1989, 7/6/2005, and 8/29/2007 were used. The images were registered with a polynomial geometric correction of first order. Radiometric calibration, reflectance, transmittance and planetary albedo were calculated and, subsequently, thematic maps of surface albedo, surface temperature and enhanced vegetation index (EVI) were generated. The surface albedo showed increasing average values between the 1989 and 2005 images, which indicates the urban territorial expansion. The image of 8/29/2007 showed the highest land surface temperature, followed by the temperatures showed in the images of 7/10/1989 and 7/6/2005, and the highest values were those of the urban networks. The 1989 image showed the highest average value for EVI, which indicates that there was a higher vegetation presence in that date.
Moisture Content (NDWI) and Spatial-Temporal Analysis of the Surface Albedo of the Moxoto-PE Basin River A B S T R A C TRemote sensing allows the spatial and temporal monitoring of natural resources in several parts of the world efficiently and systematically been showing great assistance in the areas of agriculture, forestry, as well as meteorological and hydrological forecasts. Thus, several indexes have been presented more recurrently in the literature, such as vegetation indices and surface albedo. Considering the major changes occurring in space-time river basin and the influence of these changes in the hydrological cycle, this study aims to evaluate changes in space-time river basin Moxotó-PE by applying the NDWI and surface albedo, obtained with orbital images. We used images from Landsat 5 and 7-point orbit at 215
ABSTRACT: ASSESSMENT OF ENERGY BALANCE USING TM -LANDSAT 5 DIGITAL IMAGES AND SEBAL ALGORITHM OVER THE SOUTHERN PERNAMBUCO SEACOASTThe energy exchange across soil vegetation-atmosphere interface through the net radiation components (Rn) the soil heat flux (G), sensible heat flux (H) and latent heat flux (LE) are of vital importance for the climatic and hydrologic modeling, which affects all biosphere. The main objectives of this research are: (1) to estimate and compare the several energy balance components behavior, using SEBAL algorithm, under different soil usages; and (2) to validate SEBAL algorithm. In order to make the analysis, three TM -Landsat 5 images, from orbit and point 214/066, the South Coast of Pernambuco State (Brazil) were used. The results showed the ability of SEBAL to estimate the spatial variability of the different components of energy balance, with the ability to distinguish different soil occupations. The calculation of the energy balance components allows to figure the different forms of energy usages by different soil coverage and to find those that provide better thermal comfort. Estimates of evapotranspiration obtained by the algorithm SEBAL showed a good agreement with the results obtained by the FAO-Penman-Monteith, thus demonstrating the potential of this methodological approach.
Palavras-chave: sequestro de carbono, saldo de radiação, Landsat 5, IVDN, eficiência de uso da luz ABSTRACT: ASSESSMENT OF GROSS PRIMARY PRODUCTION -GPP IN THE IRRIGATED PERIMETER SÃO GONÇALO -PB USING REMOTE SENSINGThe Gross Primary Production (GPP) assessment and monitoring by remote sensing is of crucial importance in the climate changes studies given its direct connection to the effectively extracted carbon from the atmosphere by numerous earth ecosystems. The present work aims to assess the GPP in a Brazilian semi-arid irrigated area, using TM -Landsat 5 images and complementary surface meteorological data. Cloudless TM images were acquired from the year 2008 and were used to obtain daily GPP for five selected days. This model expresses GPP as a function of the absorbed photosynthetic active radiation and the efficiency of light use by vegetation. A comparison is made between the obtained results with TM images and GPP from MOD17A2. The difference between GPP values obtained by the two techniques resulted in an Average Absolute Difference -AAD of 0.91 g C m -2 dia -1 , an Average Percentage Difference -APD of 11.82% and Root Square Mean Difference -RSMD of 1.12 g C m -2 dia -1 . The integration of the GPP over the irrigated São Gonçalo areas, during the five selected days, resulted in a carbon fixation between 200.3 and 295.3 ton C day -1 .
DISTURBANCE OF EAST WAVE AS CONDITIONING THE EXTREME PRECIPITATION EVENTS IN PERNAMBUCO ABSTRACTThe Easterly Waves (DOL) are synoptic scale systems that occur in the lower Tropical Troposphere, with horizontal longitudes of about 1.000 km or more, that occur in the low Tropical Troposphere. It has aroused several researchers' interest during years due to their influence in the precipitation of tropical regions. DOL system produces a strong liberation of latent heat provoking disturbances in wind and pressure fields, changing weather conditions during its trajectory. Therefore, this article aims to analyze DOL influence as a conditioner to the intensification of precipitation events in Pernambuco state, by analyzing the event that occurred in June 2010 and its impacts over Palmares municipality. The occurrence of a DOL coupled to anomalous sea surface temperatures pitched the intensification of a Mesoscale Convective System (MCC), that provoked precipitations above the normal standards for three days. Dol systems due to their duration time and to their precipitation value over 100 mm, indicate that it is an important system to rain occurrence in Brazilian Northeast. Concerning the impacts that occurred in Palmares municipality, a series of factors were responsible e not just the event by itself. The previous weeks heavy rains and its concentration during three days mainly in the headwaters, the soil and rel...
In the 1970s, the social impacts of protected areas (PAs) began to be widely recognized as conservationist thinking and human rights evolved to an acceptance that conservation can be achieved in collaboration with traditional communities. However, such a 'human face' given to conservation is still not present in some 21st century PAs: Catimbau National Park - CNP (Northeast Brazil) is a strict protection park which does not allow people residing inside its borders. Thirteen years after its creation, people are still confused about the monetary compensations and displacements strategies. In this study, a review of the bibliography concerning the CNP is performed and a proposal is made to change the current park classification from National Park to Natural Monument, allowing for private areas and their residents, providing that their use of its natural resources is compatible with the conservation objectives stipulated.
