Se caracterizó la resistencia antimicrobiana de 70 aislados de Escherichia coli obtenidos de pacientes con infección del tracto urinario (ITU) provenientes de ocho hospitales públicos en el Perú. Los perfiles de resistencia fueron identificados mediante el uso del sistema automatizado MicroScan®. Se utilizó una reacción en cadena de la polimerasa convencional para la detección de los genes blaTEM, blaCTX-M, blaSHV y blaPER. El 65,7% (46/70) de los aislados presentó un fenotipo multidrogorresistente y el 55,7% (39/70) fue identificado como productores de betalactamasas de espectro extendido. Se detectaron altos niveles de resistencia para ampicilina (77,1%), ciprofloxacina (74,3%), trimetoprim/sulfametoxazol (62,9%), cefepime (57,1%) y cefuroxima (57,1%). El gen blaTEM fue el más frecuente con un 31,4%, seguido por blaCTX-M (18,6%) y blaSHV (2,9%). Los resultados evidencian altos niveles de resistencia a antimicrobianos de importancia clínica en aislados de E. coli de pacientes con ITU en el Perú.
Objetivo: El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la expresión diferencial de miR-21, miR-29a, miR-99b y miR-155 en muestras de suero de pacientes con tuberculosis (TB) latente y TB activa respecto a controles sanos. Materiales y métodos: Se utilizaron 28 muestras de suero (nueve con TB activa, diez con TB latente y nueve controles sanos) para el análisis de expresión génica mediante RT-qPCR con Primers y sondas TaqMan. Se calculó la expresión diferencial por el método de Livak utilizando un gen normalizador (RNU-48). Resultados: Se halló una sobreexpresión de miR-155 en personas con tuberculosis latente, respecto a los controles sanos (0,63 vs. 0,01; valor de p=0,032). Conclusión: El miR-155 podría ser considerado un biomarcador para diferenciar TB latente de enfermedad activa. Se requieren estudios con mayores tamaños muestrales para corroborar nuestros hallazgos.
Con el objetivo de determinar la presencia de enterobacterias productoras de betalactamasas (bla) en muestras de efluentes hospitalarios, se realizó un estudio en dos hospitales de nivel II y III de Lima, Perú. Se identificó y caracterizó el perfil de resistencia de las bacterias aisladas mediante el sistema MicroScan para 18 antimicrobianos, y mediante PCR convencional se determinó la presencia de los genes de resistencia a betalactamasas de espectro de extendido (BLEE) (blaCTX-M, blaSHV, blaTEM, blaPER) y carbapenemasas (blaKPC, blaNDM, blaVIM, blaIMP). Se identificó 32 aislados (20 enterobacterias y 12 bacterias gramnegativas). Todas las bacterias aisladas presentaron multirresistencia. Se halló la presencia de genes BLEE (blaTEM) y carbapenemasas (blaKPC e blaIMP) en los hospitales evaluados. La liberación de estos microorganismos a la vía pública y la falta de tratamiento de los efluentes hospitalarios podría ser un importante problema de salud pública.
