This paper discusses Bruner’s contributions in the field of narrative. I offer a review of the main ideas developed by Bruner in the second half of the 1980, stressing the innovation of narrative approach in order to reconsider the epistemological and methodological foundations of psychology and other social sciences. Secondly I point out the educational and testimonial dimensions of Life Histories in different settings such as teacher training and development, lifelong learning, genealogical and family work, educational auto/biography in a university context, historic remembering and popular education. In the third section I discuss some trends on educational theory and I sketch out some contributions of Life History approach for an educational theory based on critique and resistance. This paper basically offers a european perspective, that stems from the relevant literature in English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
