ObjectiveThis study evaluated the pelvic ring fractures and injuries in patients admitted to and treated at this ward between August, 2012 and January, 2014.Methods66 patients were submitted to treatment protocols according to their age, gender, skin color, injury mechanism, location of the trauma, classification of their injuries, emergency intervention, associated injuries, injured side of the body, treatment, and mortality. The most relevant data were classified according to statistic procedures, such as Goodman's association test. Measures were compared with Student's t-test and analysis of variance associated with Tukey's multiple comparison test.ResultsThe mean age was 47 years; white race and male gender were most common. Car or truck accident was the most common cause of injuries, which occurred mainly in urban sites. Type A injuries were the most frequent. 16.6% of the cases were submitted to emergency surgery. 42.4% displayed associated injuries. The right side of the body was the most commonly affected side. Non-invasive treatment was most commonly used. Death was the outcome in 3% of the cases, associated to high-energy trauma.ConclusionsPelvic ring fractures and injuries are more often verified among males. In general and among younger individuals, traffic accidents are the most common cause of the injury, while among the elderly, ordinary falls are the most commonly verified cause. The majority of those injuries are suffered in urban areas. Type A fractures are more frequent. The majority of cases do not require emergency intervention nor do they feature associated injuries. Non-invasive treatment is most common and death outcomes are associated to high-energy traumas with severe injuries.
O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3 x 5 x 2, envolvendo 3 clones (Cepec 2008, CCN 51 e TSH 1188), 5 concentrações de ácido indolbutírico AIB (0; 1.000; 3.000; 6.000 e 9.000 mg kg -1 ), duas épocas do ano (verão e inverno), EFFECT OF INDOLBUTYRIC ACID AND CUTTING HARVESTING PERIOD ON ROOTING OF SEMI-HARDWOOD COCOA CUTTINGSABSTRACT: The objective of this work was to verify the effect of indolbutyric acid (IBA) on rooting of cocoa cuttings. The layout used was a complete randomized design in a 3 x 5 x 2 factorial scheme with three clones (Cepec 2008, CCN 51 e TSH 1188), five concentrations of indolbutyric acid -IBA -(0, 1.000, 3.000, 6.000 e 9.000 mg kg -1 ), two harvest periods (summer and winter), 10 cuttings per plot and five replications. At 120 days after planting, it was analyzed the following variables: survival percentage (SOB), shoot number (NB) shoots dry matter (MSB) and roots dry matter (MSR). The factors period of the year and IBA concentration showed significant effect in the variables studied isolated and in interaction with clones. The obtained data permit to conclude that the mean ideal concentrations (CI) of IBA were 4.169 mg kg -1 and 3.985 mg kg -1 in the summer and in the winter, respectively. It was verified that the clones showed different responses in regard to CI of IBA and year period. In general, the CI's in the summer were higher than in the winter. The results showed that period of the year and IBA concentrations influenced expressively the survival and rooting of cuttings of Cepec 2008 and CCN 51 clones and, with lower intensity, the TSH 1188 clone. There is an ideal IBA concentration for each one of the studied clones.
The soil was classified as a deep eutrophic red yellow Cambisol, of medium texture. A factorial arrangement was used with two autocompatible clones (PH 16 and CCN 51) and two spacings (4.0 x 2.0 and 3.5 x 1.5 m) therefore, four treatments distributed in a randomized block design with three replications, 64 plants per plot with 28 useful. The seedlings came from plagiotropic branches propagated by cuttings. The cacao planting was done on March 2003, under temporary shade of banana, silver dwarf variety, according to the spacings tested for cocoa. The orchard was managed with drip irrigation and fertirrigation. The other management practices were adapted from the existing recommendations, taking into account the edafoclimatic characteristics of the region. Periodic evaluations were done in the first 52 months after planting, emphasizing the initial behavior of clones in growth and production. Of the obtained results it is anxious the precocity in regard to growth, vigor and beginning of production at 1.5 years in relation to the traditional region and average production of both clones of 1770 kg ha of dry seeds. Presently, it have not been observed negative effects of relative humidity and temperature on growth, pollination, fruiting of cacao and occurrence of presence of pests at economic levels.
