This study aimed to evaluate the hematologic response and the serum and peritoneal fluid (PF) proteinogram of cattle affected by digestive diseases. Twenty-seven animals were distributed in two groups: GI (intestinal diseases) and GII (traumatic reticuloperitonitis, TRP). The animals were previously submitted to a physical exam. Subsequently, blood samples were collected to perform the complete blood count, determine the plasma protein and fibrinogen, and obtain the serum for proteinogram in polyacrylamide gel (SDS-PAGE). Simultaneously, PF was collected to perform physical and chemical evaluation and the electrophoretic profile (SDS-PAGE). ANOVA at the 5% probability level was used to compare the groups. The animals showed signs of apathy, dehydration, and gastrointestinal hypomotility in both groups. However, GI animals showed more significant clinical changes. The blood count of both groups (P > 0.05) showed leukocytosis due to neutrophilia and a regenerative left shift with hyperfibrinogenemia. The proteinogram of both body fluids allowed the identification of proteins albumin (ALB), transferrin (TRF), ceruloplasmin, haptoglobin, ?1-acid glycoprotein (?1-AGP), MW 23000 Da, ?1-antitrypsin, IgA, and IgG. The [PT] PF/[PT] blood serum ratio of each of the identified proteins increased, showing statistical differences between groups (P < 0.05) regarding PT, ALB, TRF, ?1-AGP, and IgG values, with GI animals showing the highest ratio. Intestinal diseases and TRP triggered a systemic and local response characterized by clinical, hematological, and serum and PF proteinogram alterations. The proteins ?1-GPA, haptoglobin, and TRF measured in PF were good inflammation biomarkers and useful as an auxiliary tool for the diagnosis and prognosis of digestive diseases in cattle.

Caseous lymphadenitis is one of the main concerns in the health management of sheep and goats and, therefore, this work sought to identify the occurrence of this disease in herds in the metropolitan region of Manaus - AM. Visits were made to seven properties, collecting data through investigative questionnaires, physical examinations on 562 animals and microbiological analysis of the samples. Caseous lymphadenitis was observed in 1.78% (10/562) of the animals evaluated, where five (0.89%) of the animals presented reactive lymph nodes and five (0.89%) presented healing processes suggestive of lymphadenitis. Despite the low prevalence in the region, it was noted that there is a need for the dissemination of good agricultural practices and sanitary management in sheep and goat farming in the region.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar simultaneamente biomarcadores no sangue e no líquido peritoneal (LP) de bovinos com enfermidades intestinais (GI n=14) e reticulites traumáticas (GII n=13). O exame clínico e a coleta de sangue e de LP foram realizadas e, posteriormente, análise física e citológica do LP, bem como as determinações bioquímicas no sangue e no LP. Empregou-se a análise de variância ao nível de 5% de probabilidade comparando os grupos e comparando o sangue e o LP. Em ambos os grupos foram evidenciados sinais de apatia, desidratação e hipomotilidade reticuloruminal, porém os animais do GI apresentaram alterações clínicas mais expressivas. À análise citológica do LP No sangue as concentrações de PT, globulina, colesterol e GGT foram superiores no GII (P<0,05), e a relação A/G foi maior no GI (P<0,05). No LP a albumina e a CK foram superiores no GI (P<0,05). Na comparação entre o sangue e LP, destacou-se o aumento significativo do lactato L no LP de ambos os grupos (P<0,05), caracterizando a gravidade das alterações presentes na cavidade abdominal. Recomendase a avaliação simultânea no sangue e no LP do lactato L como informação de auxílio diagnóstico e prognóstico das enfermidades digestivas dos bovinos.

RESUMOObjetivou-se relatar um caso de protrusão do disco intervertebral com localização atípica e descrever a técnica cirúrgica de corpectomia lateral parcial no tratamento da afecção em um cão. Um cão de sete anos de idade, macho, raça Pug, foi atendido com ataxia proprioceptiva dos membros pélvicos havia três meses, associada à doença do disco intervertebral entre a nona e 10ª vértebras torácicas. Após um mês de tratamento conservativo sem melhora, o paciente foi encaminhado para o tratamento cirúrgico, quando foi realizada corpectomia lateral parcial esquerda para descompressão da medula espinhal. Após a cirurgia, o paciente apresentou melhora considerável do quadro, sendo a técnica eficaz na remoção da compressão extradural, sem manipulação da medula espinhal ou outras complicações.Palavras-chave: compressão medular, corpectomia, neurocirurgia, cães (Wilkens et al., 1996). The management and clinic of ruminants can always involve the risk of accidents due to several factors. Therefore, this work aimed to present the main care that the veterinarian buiatra must have, as well as its role in the information of biosafety to all involved in the livestock activities. Through literature review, the main information on biosafety in the ruminant clinic was added and showed how the dangers of accidents can be minimized, as well as the prevention of zoonoses. The veterinarian buiatra is of great importance in the dissemination of biosafety measures in rural areas, being an important health promoter of all involved.

O vírus Sars-CoV-2 causa a doença mais recente caracterizada como ameaça à saúde global e possui, principalmente, curso de doença respiratória. Os principais sintomas podem ser febre, tosse e dispneia e o risco pode aumentar conforme a idade e a presença de outras doenças associadas no paciente. Atualmente o tratamento é de suporte e ainda não há vacina. A maioria das estratégias globais de resposta ao combate desta doença inclui níveis variados de rastreamento de contato e auto isolamento ou quarentena, sendo esta a melhor forma de prevenção e também maneira de evitar maior disseminação da enfermidade. Devido ao isolamento social para prevenção da doença, uma das alternativas que podem ser utilizadas para proporcionar informação e educação em saúde para a população em geral é por meio dos meios de comunicação em massa. Dessa forma, o objetivo deste trabalho consistiu em utilizar mídias sociais como ferramenta para sensibilizar a população quanto à prevenção da COVID-19, com o intuito de ofertar e facilitar o acesso a informações de cunho educativo. A seleção da mídia social, assim como sua plataforma de interação contribuíram para a apresentação de resultados satisfatórios relacionados aos conteúdos publicados para disseminação das informações inerentes à doença.
