Persons with TBI experience social communication skills deficits, associated with decreased societal participation and life satisfaction. Further research is needed to determine efficacy of social communication skills treatment and association with improved participation and satisfaction with life.
Participants showed improvement on subjective social communication skills measures post-treatment and at follow-up, demonstrating potential efficacy of the intervention in a broader population of persons with TBI, worthy of further investigation.
Findings did not support the efficacy of the intervention. Results may have been impacted by the wide variability of individualized health and wellness goals selected by group members, the structure and/or content of the group, and/or the outcome measures selected.
