Currently, Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR) systems are becoming more attractive in market of indoor positioning. This is mainly due to the development of cheap and light Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) on smartphones and less requirement of additional infrastructures in indoor areas. However, it still faces the problem of drift accumulation and needs the support from external positioning systems. Vision-aided inertial navigation, as one possible solution to that problem, has become very popular in indoor localization with satisfied performance than individual PDR system. In the literature however, previous studies use fixed platform and the visual tracking uses feature-extraction-based methods. This paper instead contributes a distributed implementation of positioning system and uses deep learning for visual tracking. Meanwhile, as both inertial navigation and optical system can only provide relative positioning information, this paper contributes a method to integrate digital map with real geographical coordinates to supply absolute location. This hybrid system has been tested on two common operation systems of smartphones as iOS and Android, based on corresponded data collection apps respectively, in order to test the robustness of method. It also uses two different ways for calibration, by time synchronization of positions and heading calibration based on time steps. According to the results, localization information collected from both operation systems has been significantly improved after integrating with visual tracking data.
Vision-aided inertial navigation has become a more popular method for indoor positioning recently. This popularity is basically due to the development of light-weighted and low-cost Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) as well as advancement and availability of CCD cameras in public indoor area. While the use of inertial sensors and cameras are limited to the challenge of drift accumulation and object detection in line of sight, respectively, the integration of these two sensors can compensate their drawbacks and provide more accurate positioning solutions. This study builds up upon earlier research on "Vision-Aided Indoor Pedestrian Tracking System", to address challenges of indoor positioning by providing more accurate and seamless solutions. The study improves the overall design and implementation of inertial sensor fusion for indoor applications. In this regard, genuine indoor maps and geographical information, i.e. digitized floor plans, are used for visual tracking application the pilot study. Both of inertial positioning and visual tracking components can work stand-alone with additional location information from the maps. In addition, while the visual tracking component can help to calibrate pedestrian dead reckoning and provides better accuracy, inertial sensing module can alternatively be used for positioning and tracking when the user cannot be detected by the camera until being detected in video again. The mean accuracy of this positioning system is 10.98% higher than uncalibrated inertial positioning during experiment.
The reform of water management in China is still in progress, and the pricing of water resources is undertaken in parallel, with a divide between irrigation water and pipe water associated with different users: The supply of irrigation water is regulated by local government and that of pipe water is operated by the production sector of pipe water. Based on a literature review and an interview survey of farmers, this study incorporated the water parallel pricing system of China within a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, where the drought of 2000 is simulated. The 16 provincial irrigation water supplies and their subsidies were also estimated and introduced into this CGE model. The results demonstrated that the effects on the macro-economy were insignificant. However, the effects
An integrated water environment management system is necessary in improving water quality, properly allocating water resources, and supporting socio-economic development. Specifically, dynamic modeling can be an efficient approach to accomplish this system. This paper aims to construct a dynamic linear optimization model to reflect a water environment management system which includes three sub-models with consideration of their interrelationships (a socio-economic model based on dynamic Input-Output model, a water resources cycle model, and a water pollutants flow model). Based on simulation, the model can precisely estimate trends of water utilization, water quality, and economic development under certain management targets, and propose an optimal plan. Taking Tianjin as a target area, this study utilized the model to analyze the potential of using reclaimed water to accomplish local water environment management and sustainable development plan while exploring the applicable approaches. This study indicates that the constructed water environment management system can be effective and easily adopted to assess water resources and environment while improving the trade-off between economic and environment development, as well as formulate regional development plan.
This paper reviews and summarizes the development, key technologies, and application of brake-by-wire (BBW) actuators. BBW is the technology orientation of future vehicle brake system. The main feature of BBW is to replace some of the mechanical and hydraulic components of traditional brake system with electronic control components, and use cables and wires to transmit energy and signals. BBW actuators have outstanding advantages, such as fast response, accurate control, and compact structure. They are easy to integrate with active safety functions and they are easily matched with the regenerative braking systems of electric vehicle. First, this paper summarizes the classification, characteristics, performance, and architecture of BBW actuators. Subsequently, the braking process regulation of vehicle is considered to be the main target, which is summarized from two aspects of actuator regulation and braking force distribution. The state estimation algorithm and control algorithm applied to these actuators are summarized and analyzed, and the development trend, challenges, and schemes of the braking force distribution are proposed. The development and research trend of braking force match strategies between the regenerative brake system and BBW system are also analyzed and summarized. The further electrification and intelligence of vehicle demand BBW's braking force control method and distribution method must have higher control accuracy, stronger robustness, and wider adaptability, and the effects on braking comfort and handling stability must be further discussed.Actuators 2020, 9, 15 2 of 24 new features [2,3]. The additional functions, such as ABS and ESP, require additional devices, such as high-speed solenoid valves, oil return pumps, and return lines. Therefore, the structure of hydraulic brake system is becoming increasingly complex, and the maintenance is also becoming more and more difficult [4,5]. At present, new energy vehicles, such as electric vehicles (EV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), are developing rapidly and are highly concerned by major automotive manufacturers. However, most electric vehicles still use hydraulic brake system. On the one hand, the electric vehicles cannot use vacuum boosters to provide auxiliary force. The electric hydraulic pump must first be used to increase the hydraulic pressure, and then delivers the high pressure to each wheel. The electric energy needs to be converted and then transmitted multiple times in this process, so the energy utilization efficiency is not high, and there is the potential danger of brake fluid leakage. On the other hand, the hydraulic brake system cannot accurately and independently regulate the braking force, so it cannot be well matched with the regenerative brake system of EV and HEV [6].Actuators 2020, 9, 15 2 of 24 hydraulic brake system is becoming increasingly complex, and the maintenance is also becoming more and more difficult [4,5]. At present, new energy vehicles, such as electric vehicles (EV)...
