RESUMOA crescente expectativa de vida provém do aumento do número de idosos e, muitas vezes, traz a incidência de diferentes problemas de saúde, incluindo a obesidade. A "epidemia de obesidade" é resultado dos hábitos não saudáveis que pode resultar em muitas comorbidades. Além disso, fatores genéticos, comportamentais e ambientais, incluindo alimentação e o sedentarismo acabam impactando na qualidade de vida. Essas alterações tornam os idosos mais vulneráveis e podem ocasionar a ocorrência de quedas, também considerada um problema de saúde pública. O objetivo deste estudo foi comparar o risco de quedas de idosas obesas e não obesas. Originou-se do Projeto Integrado "Funcionalidade, risco de quedas, nível de atividade física e controle postural em mulheres com e sem Incontinência Urinária", no qual foi realizado um recorte para análise do objetivo proposto. Analysis of the number of syphilis hospitalizations in elderly women in Brazil between 2010 and 2019 by age group
Maria RESUMOO processo de envelhecimento traz diversas alterações orgânicas, psicossociais e comportamentais. Entre elas, as degenerativas, como a perda de massa muscular e força, que afetam o equilíbrio do idoso, podem ser as mais preocupantes em função do risco que oferecem à ocorrência de quedas, que configuram um grande problema para a saúde e são causa de internações, quadros de dependência e até morte. Diante disso, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar o risco de quedas de idosas fisicamente ativas. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, observacional e quantitativo em que a população da pesquisa foi composta por 40 idosas brasileiras com média de idade de 66,33±5,5. O International Physical Activity Questionaire (IPAQ) foi utilizado como critério de inclusão. Os instrumentos utilizados foram uma ficha de avaliação, o Índice de Katz, o Mini Exame do Estado Mental (MEEM) para elebigilidade e o Teste Timed Up and Go (TUG) para análise. Os dados foram analisados através da estatística descritiva com distribuição de frequências de valores absolutos e percentuais. Diante do perfil epidemiológico encontrado, o Risco de Queda, avaliado através do TUG apresentou os seguintes scores: para risco normal n=17 (42,50%), para baixo risco n= 22 (55,0%) e para alto risco n=1 (2,50%). Considerando se tratar de idosas fisicamente ativas, ainda que a maioria tenha algum problema de saúde, o risco de ocorrência de quedas é baixo ou nulo, porém, ainda ocorre. Desta forma, concluimos sobre a necessidade de elucidar questões acerca da atividade física realizada, como o tipo, a intensidade e a frequência e, assim encontrar a melhor maneira de evitar as quedas.

Introdução: As quedas constituem uma alta proporção de morbimortalidade em idosos, além de trazer consequências negativas à qualidade de vida desses indivíduos. Diante do exposto, acredita-se ser fundamental conhecer o perfil das idosas para identificar possíveis vieses de risco às quedas. Objetivo: Verificar se idosas com algum problema de saúde têm risco de quedas. Métodos: Este trabalho é parte da Dissertação de mestrado vinculada ao projeto Guarda-chuva intitulado Funcionalidade, risco de quedas, nível de atividade física e controle postural em mulheres com e sem incontinência urinária, aprovado sob parecer CAAE: 63080416.0.0000.5346. Estudo transversal, composta por 41 idosas com média de 66,2±5,5 anos de idade. Estas mulheres foram recrutadas nos grupos de atividades físicas do Núcleo Integrado de Estudos e Atenção à Pessoa Idosa. Os instrumentos utilizados foram a Ficha de avaliação elaborada pelos autores para delinear o perfil das idosas, o Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ) para qualificar o nível de atividade e o Teste Timed Up and Go (TUG) para avaliar o Risco de Quedas (RQ). Os dados foram analisados através da estatística descritiva com distribuição de frequências de valores absolutos e percentuais. Resultados: A maioria das idosas permanecia ativa (97,6%), mesmo que 80,5%(n=33) delas apresentassem algum problema de saúde como hipertensão arterial sistêmica (61,0%) e diabetes mellitus (14,63%), e quanto ao risco de quedas, foi identificado baixo risco em 53,66%(n=22). Conclusão: Nesta população, é possível dizer que idosas ativas podem reduzir o risco de sofrerem quedas, mesmo apresentando algum problema de saúde.
