Resumo: O presente estudo verificou o uso de estratégias metacognitivas de leitura por alunos do ensino médio. Participaram 487 alunos do ensino médio de escolas públicas, 55,7%, e particulares ,44,3%, sendo 58,3% do sexo feminino. A idade variou de 14 a 21 anos com média de 16,2 anos e desvio padrão de 1,27. O procedimento utilizado foi a aplicação coletiva por classe de uma escala de estratégias metacognitivas de leitura. Os resultados revelaram que as mais utilizadas pelos participantes foram as de solução de problemas, especialmente durante a leitura. Os participantes do sexo feminino (M=46,10; DP=12,42) demonstraram utilizar estratégias de leitura mais freqüentemente que os do masculino (M=39,13; DP=13,94). Houve diferenças estatisticamente significativas quanto ao uso de estratégias metacognitivas de leitura entre 15 e 17 anos [F(7,480)=2,33; p<0,02]. Verificou-se diferença de uso também entre a primeira série do ensino médio em relação a terceira e habilitação ao magistério [F(3,484)=12,36; p<0,00].Palavras-chave: avaliação; metacognição; escala. THE STUDENT USE OF READING STRATEGIES IN HIGH SCHOOLS Abstract:This study aimed to verify the use of metacognitive reading strategies by high school students. The subjects, which 58.3% were female, were 487 high school students from public (55.7%) and private (44.3%) schools. The age was between 14 and 16 years old, with an average of 16.2 years and standard deviation of 1.27. The procedure consisted of the colective application of metacognitive reading strategies. The results showed that the most frequent strategies used by the subjects were the problem solution ones, especially during the reading. The females subjects (M=46.10; DP=12.42) used reading strategies more often than males (M=39.13; DP =13.94). There were significative statistical differences between subjects of 15 and 17 years when it came to the use of the metacoginitive strategies [F(7.48)=2.33; p<0.02] while reading. The use of the strategies by the first high school level was really diferent to the third and teacher preparation level [F(3.484)=12.36; p<0.00].

O estudo objetivou identificar a percepção de crianças do ensino fundamental acerca da agressividade na família e escola, verificando possíveis diferenças entre essa variável com gênero, faixa etária, série e tipo de escola. Aplicou-se uma escala de agressividade em 758 alunos brasileiros, de 2ª a 4ª séries, de ambos os sexos, sendo 50,4% meninas. Os participantes apresentaram poucas condutas agressivas. A agressividade familiar teve maiores índices do que a escolar. Identificou-se influência do gênero sobre a agressividade geral dos participantes. Verificou-se que os meninos apresentaram índices de agressividade na família mais altos e significativamente diferentes em relação às meninas. Constataram-se diferenças significativas para idade e série apenas para agressividade familiar.

The aim of this study was to investigate relationships between motivation to learn, implicit theories of intelligence and self-handicapping strategies, and to examine the association of these variables in the prediction of the use of learning strategies in students of Pedagogy. The sample consisted of 107 Pedagogy students of two private universities of a city of São Paulo state. Data were collected using four Likerttype scales. Multivariate linear regression analyses revealed that participants with higher scores in the Learning Strategies Scale also presented significantly higher scores in intrinsic motivation and fewer reports of use of self-handicapping strategies. Higher scores in metacognitive strategies were significantly associated with both intrinsic an extrinsic motivation and with fewer reports of use of selfhandicapping strategies. RESUMOO presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar o desempenho em escrita de crianças que frequentavam regularmente o ensino fundamental. Foi aplicada uma prova de escrita em 546 crianças, com faixa etária entre 7 e 13 anos, de ambos os sexos, que frequentavam 2ª e 3ª séries de escolas públicas e privadas do estado de São Paulo. Os resultados revelaram que os participantes da 3ª série apresentaram um desempenho melhor do que os da 2ª série, apesar de apresentarem pontuação máxima e mínima igual. A categoria na qual foi verificada maior dificuldade foi a das palavras com sílabas compostas, enquanto àquelas com encontros consonantais e dígrafos foram as que os estudantes mais acertaram. Ao lado disso, os estudantes da escola particular revelaram maior competência em escrita ortográfica do que os que frequentavam as escolas públicas. Quanto ao gênero, apenas não houve diferença significativa de desempenho entre meninas e meninos para os itens com sílaba composta e complexa, nos demais itens as meninas apresentaram os melhores resultados. ABSTRACT Ortographic Difficulties in Writing at a Basic Grade LevelThis study aimed to identify the performance in children's writing at a basic grade level. A written test was applied to 546 grade 2 or 3 boys and girls (aged 7 to 13) in public and private schools from the State of São Paulo. The results showed that the grade 3 participants presented a better performance than the grade 2 participants even though both groups have achieved the same maximum and minimum scores. It was confirmed that participants had more difficulty with words containing compound syllables, while words with aggregated consonants and digraphs were associated with the highest rate of correct answers. Furthermore, students from private school revealed more competence in orthographic writing than those coming from public schools. As to gender differences, there were no significant differences in performance for compound and complex syllables items though for other words, girls had better scores.
