Testing began in 1989 to qualify fibers for the natural space environment for high speed, data transmission interconnects on the Space Station. Fibers identified for Space Station systems must qualify over temperature extremes and natural space radiation effects. This report addresses the adverse s p a c e e n v i r o n m e n t a l e f f e c t s of e x t e r n a l temperatures acquired from the LDEF experiment and radiation levels based on Space Station s p e c i f i c a t i o n s .Les epreuvse P radiation des fibres optiques destinees P la station orbitale RLsumL Des essais de qualification de fibres optiques en environnement spatial ont debut6 en 1989 pour des besoins d'interconnexion d e stations spatiales P haut debit et P grande vitesse.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
