A variable-temperature (1.4–320 K) superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer, operating in magnetic fields up to 8 T, has been built. The sensitivity is 2×10−7 emu in low fields and 2×10−6 in high fields. The apparatus allows magnetization and anisotropy measurements to be performed and is entirely automated. It is of simple construction and has proved over a number of years to be very robust.
Abstract. 2014 This paper is devoted to the experimental study of the thermally activated motion of a 180° Bloch wall in a Fe-Si single crystal. Two kinds of experiments are reported : irreversible increase of magnetization (aftereffect) in a constant field on the one hand, experiments in which the wall is constrained to move at a constant velocity on the other hand. In the latter case, the mean volume of Barkhausen jumps increases with temperature like T4.4. In the framework afforded by the model of Street and Woolley, one defines an experimental analysis window through which the spectrum of energy barriers is explored. An analytical form is proposed for this spectrum, together with such physical quantities as density of obstacles, activation volumes and energies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
