Introduction and objective. Conditions of a healthy, friendly and safe work environment and proper work organisation increase self-efficacy and decrease or eliminate the factors causing the occurrence of burnout symptoms, all of which have a decisive impact on increasing the quality of work. The aim of the study was to analyse and assess the influence of factors of work environment and burnout syndrome on the self-efficacy of medical staff. Material and methods. The study comprised randomly selected professionally-active nurses working on hospital wards (N=405) on the area of two provinces in Poland. The study used the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, Copenhagen Burnout Inventory and a questionnaire concerning the factors that influence the process of work organisation at nursing positions in hospitals. Results. Lower scores for self-efficacy resulted in a worse assessment of development opportunities and promotion prospects (r=-0.11), participation in the decision-making process (r=-0.11) and teamwork (r=-0.10). Lower self-efficacy contributed to the occurrence of burnout symptoms r∈[-0.19-0.17]. Conclusions. Properly shaped and used organisational factors are stimulating for professional efficiency and effectiveness, and consequently, for the quality of nursing work. Negative assessment of the factors in the work environment contributes to the occurrence of burnout symptoms and decrease in self-efficacy. Nurses with lower self-efficacy more often experienced symptoms of burnout.

Jest ona nowoczesnym sposobem terapii, powstałym na bazie badań naukowych na polu różnych dziedzin: medycyny, fi zyki, matematyki, fi zjologii, biochemii i innych. Dzięki tak rozległej płaszczyźnie badań nad High Tone Power Therapy (HiToP) można mówić o niej jako o zjawisku interdyscyplinarnym. Celem pracy była ocena wpływu terapii energotonowej na mikrokrążenie obwodowe kończyn dolnych. Materiał i metoda: badaniami objęto grupę 30 osób w wieku od 20 do 60 lat. W pierwszej podgrupie znalazły się osoby leczone z powodu chorób naczyń obwodowych w zakresie tętniczym i żylnym kończyn dolnych, odpowiednio 4 i 12 osób, a w drugiej osoby zdrowe (14 osób). Wszystkim badanym wykonano serię 10 zabiegów terapii energotonowej w okolicy kończyn dolnych stosując metodę SimulFAMx. Bezpośrednio przed, jak i po serii zabiegów dokonano pomiaru przepływu krwi metodą Laser-Doppler. Wyniki: u wszystkich badanych po wykonanych zabiegach zaobserwowano zwiększenie dynamiki przepływu w mikrokrążeniu obwodowym kończyn dolnych. Wyniki te wykazały pewne zróżnicowanie, aczkolwiek nie całkiem jednoznacznie. Pod wpływem zabiegów stwierdzono wyraźny wzrost przepływu u osób leczonych z powodu zaburzeń naczyniowych, w porównaniu do osób zdrowych, u których zanotowano znaczny wzrost tylko wartości minimalnych. StreszczenieWstęp: W pracy przedstawiono analizę opinii kobiet w wieku okołomenopauzalnym o subiektywnie odczuwanych objawach charakterystycznych dla okresu klimakterycznego, które mają związek z funkcjonowaniem zawodowym, oraz ocenę wpływu wybranych zmiennych na występowanie i nasilenie odczuwania tych objawów i poczucie satysfakcji z życia. Materiał i metody: Badaniem objęto 250 aktywnych zawodowo kobiet w wieku okołomenopauzalnym (40-57 lat) mieszkających w dużych miastach. W badaniu wykorzystano Skalę Satysfakcji z Życia (Satisfaction with Life Scale -SWLS) do oceny poczucia zadowolenia z życia oraz Indeks Kuppermana (IK) do samodzielnej ilościowej i jakościowej oceny objawów klimakteryjnych. Wykorzystano także opacowany przez prowadzących badanie kwestionariusz zawierający indeks zdefiniowanych objawów okresu okołomenopauzal-nego, dzięki któremu można było przeprowadzić analizę Pareto-Lorenza. Wyniki: Wyniki świadczą o statystycznie istotnej zależności między występowaniem i nasileniem objawów menopauzalnych (według IK) a miejscem pracy kobiet (p = 0,04912), opieką ginekologiczną (p = 0,00325), stosowaniem hormonalnej terapii zastępczej (HTZ) (p = 0,01523) oraz oceną zadowolenia z życia (p = 0,0325). Po przeanalizowaniu wyników za pomocą analizy Pareto-Lorenza okazało się, że kobiety wskazały uderzenia gorąca, rozdrażnienie, obniżoną koncentrację i koordynację, zaburzenia snu oraz zwiększoną potliwość jako objawy szczególnie wpły-wające na efektywne funkcjonowanie zawodowe i powodujące dyskomfort. Wnioski: Istnieje wyraźna, statystycznie istotna zależność między miejscem pracy kobiet, opieką ginekologiczną, stosowaniem HTZ oraz oceną satysfakcji z życia a nasileniem objawów występujących w okresie okołomenopauzalnym. Zaobserwowano zespół objawów, których obecność i nasilenie wpływają na poczucie zadowolenia z życia i ocenę funkcjonowania zawodowego. Eating disorders are characterized by abnormal, unhealthy eating habits, and disordered body image. In severe cases, it can cause serious health consequences, including cardiac problems, osteoporosis, infertility, or missing menstrual periods. In women competitively training sports, the main cause for disordered eating behaviours are factors associated with dissatisfaction with their appearance and body image and a need to reduce body weight. Factors related to dissatisfaction with one’s own appearance and body image, a need to reduce body weight, a negative perception of themselves and their bodies, the pressure in sports circles, and stress are predictors for eating disorders. The aim of the study was to compare eating behaviours, body satisfaction, and taking various actions related to body mass reduction among women training competitively in volleyball, athletics, gymnastics, and young women not participating in sports. Material and methods: The study covered a group of girls and young women from the Silesian, Poland, who represented three sports disciplines (volleyball, athletics, and gymnastics), of which 30 girls were used as a control group (B). The study was conducted using a study questionnaire. Results: The study participants ate regularly and consumed all food groups during a week. The majority of girls from A1 (83.33%), A3 (53.33%), and B (80%) groups expressed their dissatisfaction with their body weight. In the group of gymnasts, a positive correlation was noted between the need to reduce body weight and regular eating (r = 0.449; p = 0.013). In the group of volleyball players, it was demonstrated that the higher the competitive experience and the greater the training load, the more regular their eating was (r = 0.475; p = 0.009). Conclusions: The importance of a diagnosis of early signs of eating disorders in girls and women as a basic component contributing to FAT development implies that further studies in this area, as well as education of the entire sports circle are necessary.

The aim of the BIOPAC trial was to determine long-term safety and efficacy of a novel microcrystalline paclitaxel-coated balloon (mcPCB) with a biocompatible polymer as an excipient in the treatment of occlusive femoropopliteal lesions. In this first-in-human prospective controlled randomized trial, 66 patients with femoropopliteal, symptomatic (Rutherford stages 2B to 5) occlusive arterial disease were randomized to either mcPCB (study group) or POBA (plain old balloon angioplasty) (control group) on a 1:1 basis. Late lumen loss (LLL) at 6 months was the primary endpoint of the study and serious adverse events (SAE: death, amputation, repeated revascularization) were considered a composite secondary endpoint. Routine angiography was scheduled for all study subjects at 6-month follow-up; outpatient appointments were scheduled at 12 and 36 months after intervention. At 6 months, the LLL was 63% lower in the mcPCB group compared to the POBA group (0.52 ± 1.2 vs 1.39 ± 1.1 mm; psup < 0.01). Binary restenosis occurred in 23% vs 52% of patients ( p = 0.02). At 3 years, the prevalence of SAE was significantly lower in the mcPCB group (33.3 vs 63.3%; p = 0.02), which mainly resulted from a twofold reduction in target vessel revascularization rate (28.6 vs 59.3%; p = 0.02). The difference in mortality was nonsignificant (7.4 vs 14.3%; p = 0.42). Patients with mcPCB were less symptomatic and less likely to adhere to secondary prevention measures. In this pivotal trial, a novel mcPCB proved superior to POBA concerning LLL at 6-month follow-up, and SAE at 12 months. This result was sustained up to 3 years. Wprowadzenie i cel pracy. Choroba Hashimoto, będąca najczęstszą przyczyną niedoczynności tarczycy, może objawiać się licznymi niespecyficznymi objawami. Wśród nich można wyróżnić takie, które dotyczą narządu ruchu: bóle mięśni, stawów, sztywność czy drętwienie. Objawy te znacząco obniżają jakość życia chorych, dlatego wymagają kompleksowego leczenia. Celem niniejszej pracy była analiza objawów ze strony narządu ruchu u kobiet z chorobą Hashimoto, a także ocena częstości korzystania przez pacjentki z pomocy fizjoterapeuty i skuteczności stosowanych metod. Materiał i metody. Badania przeprowadzono na grupie 123 kobiet, u których zdiagnozowano chorobę Hashimoto. Jako narzędzie badawcze wykorzystano kwestionariusz ankiety własnego autorstwa, składający się z 59 pytań dotyczących danych demograficznych, informacji na temat choroby Hashimoto, występowania objawów ze strony narządu ruchu, a także korzystania z pomocy fizjoterapeuty. Uzyskane dane przeanalizowano za pomocą programu Statistica 13. Wyniki. Niemal wszystkie badane osoby doświadczyły dolegliwości ze strony narządu ruchu. Najczęściej były to dolegliwości bólowe stawów, mięśni oraz osłabienie siły mięśniowej. Ponad połowa respondentek korzystała z pomocy fizjoterapeuty, a prawie 80% deklarowała taką potrzebę. Za najbardziej efektywne i pomocne uznane zostały masaż, mobilizacja tkanek miękkich oraz krioterapia. Wnioski. Z powodu powszechności objawów ze strony narządu ruchu u osób z chorobą Hashimoto występuje w tej grupie pacjentów duże zapotrzebowanie oraz chęć korzystania z usług fizjoterapeuty. Wykazany w pracy pozytywny wpływ na zmniejszenie bądź też całkowite ustąpienie dolegliwości ze strony narządu ruchu pokazuje, że fizjoterapia może być ważnym elementem walki z tą chorobą.
