RESUMO-Este estudo realizou uma caraterizacão do repertório de habilidades sociais e problemas de comportamento de crianças e avaliou a força preditiva das habilidades sociais para problemas de comportamento. Participaram 220 crianças, do 3º ao 6º ano do Ensino Fundamental, bem como seus pais ou responsáveis, que responderam ao Sistema de Avaliação de Habilidades Sociais (SSRS-BR). A amostra apresentou escores coerentes com a norma para habilidades sociais e problemas de comportamento, sendo que os internalizantes, segundo os pais ou responsáveis, foram mais frequentes. Adicionalmente, as habilidades sociais de maior peso preditivo foram as de Responsabilidade (na autoavaliação) e as de Autocontrole e Civilidade (na avaliação de pais ou responsáveis). Os resultados foram discutidos em termos de suas implicações para a promoção de habilidades sociais como mecanismo preventivo de problemas comportamentais. Also,Responsibility (in the self-assessment) and Self-control and Civility (in the assessment by parents or guardians) were the social skills with the greatest predictive power. The results were analyzed in terms of their implications for the promotion of social skills as a preventive mechanism for behavioral problems in school children.
O texto relata uma pesquisa feita com 62 alunos do quarto ano escolar de duas escolas do interior de São Paulo: uma da rede privada e outra pública. O propósito foi o de investigar a relação entre o desempenho daqueles alunos em testes de subitização e estimativa e no Teste de Desempenho Escolar (TDE). Subitização e estimativa numérica aproximada são partes do senso numérico, considerado inato, razão pela qual ele não sofreria infl uência de fatores ambientais, como o tipo de escola frequentada, ao contrário do que seria de se esperar com relação a habilidades matemáticas adquiridas na escola. Adicionalmente, sendo o senso numérico inato, ele estaria restrito a limites cuja superação é possibilitada por avanços de ordem cultural.
